Crafting material drops[edit]

The table looks nice and all, but it's kind of misguiding (maybe because it's outdated) and it's occulting some info: someone could look at it and think they could get 10 Vicious Claws from a bag when the max is 3. The number of materials dropped isn't even constant across a same tier and rarity, at least from my research (I recorded drops from close to a thousand various boxes); it's 2-10 Mithril Ore but only 1-3 Thick Leather Sections. Also, it's not so clear to a reader who doesn't know what materials correspond to each tier (like me, even though I ought to know by now).

We could replace the current table with a list of the same kind other champion loot boxes use, or make a nice table out of those lists. But I was also thinking, maybe we could do something like Template:Drops table row for containers? --Faelys 18:01, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

God, I always disliked this way of formatting. We need a change, really. I think it might be useful to try using the drops table row template, or at least format the drops into a table. —Ventriloquist 18:16, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
I don't know anything about templates, but I suspect there'd be some things to fiddle with for it to work with Template:Contained in. I'd be willing to try on the simple tables, though, if that's what we were going with. --Faelys 21:41, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
So, how about this? User:Faelys/sandbox. --Faelys 01:36, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
Hm, that could definitely work, but a few modifications I suggest:
  • Use singular to be consistent with current formatting/drops formatting.
  • Perhaps use a different style for the table - to differentiate it from the 'drops' (brown crafting table) one.
  • I'm not sure if your idea was to merge all container rarities into one table? I'd prefer using level 3 headers and one table for each rarity.
That's all I can think of right now, but good work! —Ventriloquist 13:36, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
There! User:Faelys/sandbox I used the same style that the current tables use. And I was thinking about a table for each rarity too (the two columns are only there because the table was getting really long, and separating by tiers felt like as good a separation as any). Although I have next to no data right now on the amounts of materials the lower rarities drop, so I'm not sure what to do with that. Do we implement the table and put interrogation marks, or the 1-10 that's on the page right now even though it might be misleading? We could also just leave those in lists until we have enough data. --Faelys 15:31, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
Ooooh, I like that a lot. For the lower rarities, a simple {{verify}} should suffice, at least for the quantities. —Ventriloquist 16:39, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
Great, I'll start adding the tables to champion loot bag pages, then. Thanks for your comments! --Faelys 22:27, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
No problem, thank you for making this page pretty again! —Ventriloquist 17:30, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
