Over-hard during Beta Weekend 1?[edit]
Was it just me, or was this guy over-difficult. During the weekend, he typically downed me in 2 hits, with an AoE skill that wasn't easy to dodge. I know someone beat him, because about 30 minutes after giving up my second effort at him and moving on to other (more possible stuff), I got a gold medal for my work in defeating him. Which then begs the question... how does one defeat him? Swirling winds didn't appear to affect his barrage. My effort to knockback him had no effect, and when I tried tanking with the earth shied, he actually one-hit me, so after knowing I had aggro I couldn't activate my tank skill. But the medal tells me he is possible to beat. 97.118.203.172 16:38, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- He's a Champion, part of a group event. Were you trying to solo him or go at him with a group of 3 or less? I've found that at least three are needed for group events, preferably 4 or 5 unless you're good. And Ivor was definitely one of the harder group events (and being part of a meta event, one should expect it). Konig/talk 18:17, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- (the first anon comment belongs to me, alas, 3 devices and only one I sign on with) I made three goes of Ivor in total. First was the Friday, I had crummy gear and while I did (mostly) well in the Norn events, this and a nearby flame-legion event were kicking me every which way. Dropped quickly by Ivor, whether barrage or otherwise. The temple legion bit in the northwest corner repeatedly dropped me so fast in the middle of a noisy brawl I didn't know what hit me (damage source indicators like in GW1 would be handy). Both however were proper zerg efforts, 10-30 players each. Saturday, made a go of Ivor with a pug of ten or fifteen players already working at him. We managed to get him down to about half on one strike, but that was it. In that fight, I took my lightening hammer and tried to knockback on him. No effect, and I only got to try the once. Used swirling winds, and it appeared that nobody died outright for the few seconds it was up, but that was it. After breaking about 3 bits of armor, I retreated, repaired, and went on to other events. The final effort (Sunday) was 3 guildies with about 2 pugs. First g o, I ran right up to Ivor and placed swirling winds. Lasts ~ 5 seconds, disrupting projectiles, and we wiped before the effect ended. Then I opted to try the earth shield skill 5 (invulnerable for ~5 seconds) but I was one-hit by Ivor. :( Hindsight thoughts:
- Sitting still for Ivor gets you dead fast -- Keep moving.
- Spamming evade gets you dead. Use it only as needed, or you may not have it when you do need it.
- Does blind impede attack skills like Barrage?
