Talk:Illusion of Life

Given that there seem to be two different skill icons, is it possible that there is a downed skill and a utility skill both with the name "Illusion of Life"? Sources for either would be good. Aqua (T|C) 19:52, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Previous icon isn't used for mesmer downed skill anymore (seen here e.g.), 3rd downed skill was replaced with Teleport (Mesmer skill). This new skill can be found here in the mesmer video at approx 2:47 Alfa-R User Alfa-R sig.png 20:14, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Useless in PvE[edit]

People go from downed state to death too fast for this to be worth the skill slot imo Dominox 16:42, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

I found it pretty useful when I was travelling with a large group and nearly got a party wipe. Throwing that down bought us those extra few seconds to get some kills in and effectively revive some of the players. --Xu Davella 02:49, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Re-Downed after?[edit]

When the effect of this skills runs out, do the affected players get downed again, or do they just flat out die like Vengeance? Thanks in advance! ~ ♥ Kailani! ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ 01:15, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

They die. I've been using it in dungeons to allow party members to get away from bosses and when they don't die, my allies do.--Ph03n1x 16:16, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
Ah, thank you very much. That's good to know! ~ ♥ Kailani! ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ 23:53, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
do they take armor damage for death penalty when refallen from this skill? 96.13.26.107 06:01, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Prevents Capture-Point Contribution?[edit]

Does this apply only to PVP and WvW? I would like to use this skill sometimes when a large group is working on a PvE Event champ/boss, but don't know if I would prevent those revived from rewards and would not want to happen! If they did not kill something during the Illusion of life, and then were revived once again by players normally and they continued in the fighting against the boss/champ, would they still get all the rewards for being in the battle if they were there at completion?

The mechanic "prevent capture-point contribution" is commonly found on skills that grant invulnerability and is in place for spvp and wvw ring captures / defenses to prevent a bunch of people from chaining invulnerables to indefinitely contest a node that is essentially lost to the attacker that is predominately holding it. Does that extend to pve ring capture events? Idk. But it doesn't/shouldn't prevent general event participation. Justice (talk) 19:55, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
