Talk:Exalted armor

This is DEFINITELY not the exalted armour set. The real exalted armor crafted by a tailor is the second from the right in the following image: [1] - Spindoctor

I can confirm the above correction. The exalted crafting set (level 80 exotics) have the 2nd to last model in the image he provided. In the pvp locker, this is the same as the PvP Outrider Set. I can't confirm whether or not the image on the wiki matches the gear from the listed karma vendors, but this is definitely not the tailoring set. -Homitu

Something has to happen with these screenshots. There are now 10 human female armor screenshots. If we do this for every race and sex, there's going to be 100 screenshots per armor. I'd say we keep it at 4 screenshots per race, 2 per sex. - Ekamdu

Template Issues/Needs[edit]

Its not a matter of the screen shots per se, its a matter of a template to convey information regarding each set of armor. For that, we ask what is relevant. 1) Name, 2) Acquisition, 3) Appearance, and 4) Statistics. Some of this can be put into an introductory paragraph. This should provide name, general acquisition (e.g. is it craft, karma vendor, dungeon, etc.), and who can use.

Acquisition then gets broken up into individual sections: crafting recipes, what karma vendors provide what, etc. However, this can wind up being a lot of dense information, such density goes best at the end.

Appearance can be served by two shots for each race gender, each shot specifically showing dye areas for contrast. However, this provides only limited information as many parts overlap and you do not see the other angles of the armor. Most ideally you then get 8 images for each gender/race combination. Yes, 80 pics is a lot. Arguably it is too many. The way to shorten that then is to provide one male example and one female example with all 8 images. Then provide two images for each of the other races/genders. This can be done because the designs are all essentially the same within the same gender.

Statistics, like acquisition can be a lot of dense material; though, like the recipes for acquisition, for this high end crafted armor the number of statistics is limited as compared to what you'll find for jute or the like. The utility of statistics is also questionable as a transmutation stone can be used to change the statistics while keeping the skin of the armor. Karithay 22:03, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

I disagree with your approach to wiki articles. Above all, pages on the wiki should be simple, clear and transparent. 80 Screenshots on a single page about a single armor is cluttering, and does not provide a lot of additional information. It is a minor gain in the information the extra 6 screenshots per character provide, against the major cluttering of the article. I think 20 total screenshots is quite a lot for a single page/armor. Perhaps front shots alone are enough, which would bring the total down to 10 screenshots. A wiki page about an armor should not be including 8 different angled shots on every armor for every race for every sex. If people are really that interested in an armor, and they really feel the front/back shots don't cut it, they've got a ton of other places to find better visual material (youtube most importantly, as there is no way to have more visual information in a picture than in a movie). I feel it would be better to have links at the bottom of the page to youtube videos showing armor in all colours of the rainbow from all angles than to have so many screenshots up here.
A gallery should always be at the bottom of the page. Not only is it common, so people will look for a gallery at the bottom, it also takes up most room. Having a gallery up high in the article will have a huge negative impact on the page layout. The recipes are very short, and a lot more important in craftable item like this armor.
Next, 180px pictures? Don't let me catch you put these back again ;)! And especially not 8 of them in a row! I don't mind the pictures that much, though I don't see how they add anything to the article, but the size is just bonkers. Its called thumbnails for a reason.
I don't agree on the dye pictures. We'd need 8 per sex, that is 16. And even though human and sylvari are pretty similar, asura, charr and even norn are just very different. Those 8 or 16 screenshots won't really cut it, and it doesn't even show the dye pattern that well.
Lets make a small conclusion. I don't hate your screenshots, but i'd say in an article like this, less is better. 1-2 screenshots per sex/race combination. Gallery at the bottom is always best in my opinion. Dye section will become huge if we really want proper and consistent information (instead of just one sex or one race). Pvp Outrider Armor[edit]

Should it be mentioned that this set is known as Pvp Outrider Armor in spvp?173.88.250.197 19:40, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Vendors[edit]

so...... where can i get the recipes for this set??? that's one thing that isn't in any of the pages for this set. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Banrighk (talkcontribs) at 20:42, 7 December 2014‎ (UTC).

Go to the page for the item, e.g. for the chestpiece I'd go to Exalted Coat, and if the item needs a recipe then it will be listed beneath the insignia variant in the table... e.g. "Apothecary's Exalted Coat" doesn't need a recipe to craft, but "Celestial Exalted Coat" does. (per that page, "All recipes are discoverable except where a recipe sheet is listed.") -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 22:34, 7 December 2014 (UTC)
