Recent use of a query[edit]

Does this ensure that historicals, etc are not listed? It seems to. --Spionida (talk) 20:14, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

Hmm I don't like queries on a page not in a template.. they're very hard to track down later if say, we decide to rename a property. In answer to your question, Template:Event infobox doesn't categorize stuff or tag the event if it is historical. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:21, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
This query would include historical events however.--Relyk ~ talk < 20:49, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
I think User:Raljeor suggested a template, but put the query there as a temporary measure. Maybe an {{tl|event2}} that returns page names not canonicals would work. As to historicals, there are ones that seem to fulfil the criteria of the query that are not listed Defeat the champion (Champion Spider Queen) as an example. --Spionida (talk) 21:17, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
And Defeat the champion (Champion Jungle Troll) --Spionida (talk) 21:19, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
I've tested a slight modification of the templates in my user space. If it's ok, I let you change the official ones. Raljeor (talk) 09:41, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
Why not let us see your change? But, hey things can always be reverted. --Spionida (talk) 10:27, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
I tested it, it returns the canonical name, it would be more useful to return the page names to help with disambiguation. --Spionida (talk) 10:33, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
I added a named parameter "|userparam={{{pagename}}}" to Template:Event and a "{{#ifeq:{{{#userparam|n}}}..." to Template:Event result format.
I can also change it to an unnamed parameter if you don't want to bother with the name. Raljeor (talk) 11:13, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
Personally, it's a one off case, as far as I know, and I think and {{tl|event2}} which calls eventformat2 might work better, instead of filling {{event}} with code for a single situation. But just an opinion. --Spionida (talk) 11:16, 17 March 2015 (UTC)

There's also Slay the rare creature. I'll finally create an event2 where userparam will be used to hide the event level. Raljeor (talk) 11:27, 17 March 2015 (UTC)

Why suppress level. In the champion case, it's useful. --Spionida (talk) 11:30, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
Done. Now the question is: sorted by level or alphabetically? Raljeor (talk) 12:22, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
This is a wiki, whichever way you choose, someone else will quote precedent to change it.  :) --Spionida (talk) 16:06, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
Hi guys, I've fixed the event infobox to add the has game context=event property to all events (even historical ones).
I've also replaced your manual list with a template not unlike your original query.. except this one just recycles {{event result format}}.
Do you think that I should split the historical events into a separate section? -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 19:44, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
I thinks it's important to distinguish historicals here. Please and thanks. --Spionida (talk) 03:23, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

Uhh, I already made {{event table}} months ago for cases like this. I'm glad no one bothered to ask or check... {{tl|event2}} and {{event disambig}} are redundant templates.--Relyk ~ talk < 04:42, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

Unfortunately you rather missed the point Relyk - this template does not display the canonical name, since every page linked from this one has the same canonical name. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 08:24, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
No shit. The only reason the page name is being used is because the qualifier is the NPC. You can make a disambiguation page with dpl. If we want an actual useful page for discerning between events called Defeat the champion, then display the event boss, location, and other relevant information.--Relyk ~ talk < 08:50, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
