Guest Suggestions?[edit]

I'd love it if wiki members would share their suggestions for guests for Community Showcase Live. Is there a particular dev you'd like to see on CSL? How about a team or specialty area you'd like to see represented? There are a lot of fascinating people who work here, and I'd love to see a variety of people as featured guests.

Please feel free to share your ideas here, and I'll try to make them happen on a future show! -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 00:14, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

When was the last time we saw Josh Foreman? 18 months ago? - J.P.User J.P. sigicon.png 02:32, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
Yes, it's been a while and Josh was an absolutely awesome guest! However, as much as I'd like to ask Josh to guest again, one of my objectives with the show is to introduce as many developers to the viewers as possible. You'll notice I've never had a repeat for that very reason. Joe Kimmes is another person I'd really like to ask back, because Joe has been around a long while and he's involved in a lot of fascinating projects. With Winter(sday) approaching, it would be super cool (pun intended ;) ) to ask Joe to share more stories about the festival and its creation. But on the other hand, it's good to introduce other folks, too. Thanks for the suggestion, though -- I may see if Josh is on board for a future show! __ Gaile User gaile 2.png 18:27, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
Obviously biased, but it'd be terrific if we had Stéphane talk about wiki stats and successful community projects like On Wiki of Gold.
Purely on a personal level, I'd be interested in the Commerce team and their store philosophy and some nifty Gem Store stats concerning what sells best or not so well and/or some general information provided it's something that is disclosable to the public. I just remembered that Stephane appeared on Guild Chat a few months ago and the wiki is mentioned as one of the discussed topics. You can find a transcript of that show here. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 19:59, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
Didn't even think of this! Gotta second this suggestion. - J.P.User J.P. sigicon.png 19:06, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
I appreciate the input, but please keep in mind the program is entirely about fan art and the projects that our community of players undertakes to express their love of the game. To put it another way, the show is founded in and focused on fan art.
So when Joe was on board for Wintersday, or Josh around the time of SAF (as I recall), they were able to add anecdotes and comments from a personal perspective. But even then, the primary focus and foundation of the show's presentation remained the art that is created by our community. I don't see the show ever being a relevant medium for the presentation and discussion of statistics, even while I do appreciate the thought behind the suggestions. We want to keep the focus on our creative community of players and artists, with guests enhancing that focus. Does that make sense?-- Gaile User gaile 2.png 19:23, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
I have to admit I'm not a regular watcher of the community showcase, but has there ever been an episode exploring the process of how the Design-a-weapon contest winners were transformed into in-game weapon skins? That could feature the devs who worked on it as well as keeping to the fan art focus. - Felix Omni 19:29, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
I would love to see more from the Animations Team (I know you had Da-Hee on the show before) or maybe one of the Concept/VFX Artists. Almdudler (talk) 21:44, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
