New Player Experience A/B Testing?[edit]
what is new player experience A/B testing ? and when was this added ? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.129.9.46 (talk) at 19:55, August 1, 2022 (UTC).
- The New Player Experience article has about as much as we know so far: some new features are being trialled on certain new players to try and improve the, well, new player experience. Heillos (talk) 02:29, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- From what I have experienced it was the start of August 2022. I first noticed it on an alternate new F2P account with 2 characters lower than 10. Suddenly I was getting all these new achievements on top of the regular ones for discovering waypoints and points of interest and visiting vistas and doing events (all the typical stuff) but also for simply picking up loot and defending things. I thought all accounts had this suddenly but when I logged onto others they did not. So then I thought perhaps it was only characters below level 10. I logged into another account with a level 23 and a level 4 since it had one character below 10 and it did not have it.
- As Heillos said above, it is a trial thing: A/B testing, also known as split testing for comparison sake to see which is better.
- It is per character on the account that does have this so it is fun for new players to encourage them to do the steps again on another new character. That part does seem certain.
- It is listed as Character Adventure Guild right below the Dailies in the Hero Panel so you can check there to see if your account has it.
- Players who have this seem to level a lot faster with all the achievements on top of the normal ones they get. It seems like it makes the new player's experience more fun as they don't have to wait as long until they get better loot and get to do level 10 story for their first time.

Tracking these achievements in the watchlist?[edit]
Any idea why these achievements can't be tracked via the watchlist in the top-right corner? It seems like you have to accidentally stumble on these achievements (or intentionally find them via the Achievements panel)?
- I assume it is because they are Character based, and not account based like other achievements. ~Sime 15:33, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
What achievements award retroactive credit?[edit]
Logging in on a level 80 that has done nothing but log in, buy the gemstore freebies, and interact with the bank since CAG has earned Completing Renown Hearts I, Discovering Points of Interest I, Leveling Up I, The Adventure Begins, and Viewing Vistas. Adeira Tasharo (talk) 17:35, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
- Logging into a level 15 at the bank in LA received Leveling Up I, The Adventure Begins, and 1 of 5 towards Discovering Points of Interest I. This char has 5 PoI in LA (including Mystic Plaza), likely from a while ago. I don't believe this character has even moved as far as the MF since CAG, but I could be mistaken. - On a level 2 in The Grove, I only got The Adventure Begins from having landed in Caledon Forest after the starting instance. On a level 80 that hasn't gone anywhere since CAG, I got the same as Adeira's first comment. For Vol 2, I got retroactive credit for Completing Renown Hearts II, Completing Story Chapters I, Discovering Points of Interest II, Discovering Waypoints, Earning Crafting Levels I, Leveling Up II, Training Skills, and Viewing Vistas II. For Vol 3, I got credit for Completing Maps I, Completing Renown Hearts III, Completing Story Chapters II, Discovering POI III, Discovering WPs II, Earning Crafting Levels II, Leveling Up III, and Viewing Vistas III. For Vol 4, I got credit for Completing Renown Hearts IV, Completing Story Chapters III, Discovering POI IV, Discovering Waypoints III, Earning Crafting Levels III, Leveling Up IV, and Viewing Vistas IV. For Vol 5, I got credit for Completing Maps II, Completing Renown Hearts V, Discovering POI in the Ruins of Orr, Earning Crafting Levels IV, and Viewing Vistas V. - Did anyone get retroactive credit for Volume 2: Selecting Crafting Disciplines on a character that has already chosen two crafting disciplines? Same question for Volume 5: Completing Story Chapters IV on a character that has completed chapter 7 of the personal story. Not sure if they're both bugs - for the first one I could try buying/switching to another crafting discipline, but I can't replay chapter 7. Erianna (talk) 19:27, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
