Uhhh...?[edit]

It appears like this item is just a low-level alternative to Deluxe Gear Box, not a completely new champion bag meant to take it's place for Inquest-related NPCs. Has anyone actually seen this item drop from these NPCs?

  1. Champion Infinity Coil Commander
  2. Champion Inquest Blaster Krewe Leader
  3. Champion Inquest Ornithologist
  4. Champion Mark II Golem

These NPCs are all found in high-level zones, which wouldn't make much sense if this was simply a low level alternative for the Deluxe Gear Box. Similarly, has anyone actually seen the fine, masterwork, rare, or exotic quality versions? Before I made this page, I looked everywhere and couldn't find ANYTHING about the item. Where did this additional information come from? -Somohexual (talk) 15:02, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

I'm currently hoarding champ bags, and I saw that the Deluxe Gear Boxes that drop from Inquest have been renamed to Box of Lab Equipment. Same thing happened with champ bags related to Nightmare Court, Svanir and Flame Legion. My guess is that Anet is trying to distinguish the bags to make it easier to complete the Hero of the People collection when it becomes available. The wiki still needs to update many champs to the new names. Tyndel (talk) 16:18, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
I have already quite a lot of them saved, sorted by ID as I'm into registering chat links IDs lately. The ones that got renamed are the ones belonging to the Hero of the People collection who had the same name as other bags. That is, ALL champion bags that drop from Inquest, Sons of Svanir, Flame Legion, and Nightmare Court. If you find one that doesn't drop one of those, that creature probably has its loot table, race or affiliation set incorrectly. These bags are the ones that had a "Collectible" in their description for a brief period of time between the update that introduced collections and a next one. My guess is that the collection was planned for a future release, after they realized they needed to make more changes so people can tell these bags apart from the rest, but the change somehow slipped as they have several collections ready in their Staging version of the game. So first they needed to make the bags different, so when the Hero of the People collection is introduced in an update in the relatively near future, people can tell them apart more easily. Update[edit]

Looks like they may have updated these boxes to use Piece of Unidentified Gear instead of actual gear. I recently opened an exotic one on my Necromancer icon small.png80 and got 1 unidentifiable object, 1 thick leather section, 1 piece of unid gear (green), 8 bloodstone dust, and 1s8c.
