Talk:Rocket Boots
6/25/2013 update[edit]
So the skill got changed to propel you forward apparently? I actually rather liked this skill when it shot you backwards, it should be split into 2 different skills instead of just changing it to go the other direction. It's useful as a quick retreat if you're getting reamed by something and you don't use the Tool Kit or something.
I guess it's easier to aim where you're going when it launches you forward though, and it's still possible to turn around pretty quickly with a key bind and escape that way, but I still liked it shooting me backwards.
Can't please everybody though, I'm sure other people like this change.68.105.101.28 06:41, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
Scaling with speed[edit]
I did a short test using the terrain of the hallway leading to the Durmand Priory skill point for start/end location markers and ground-target skills to measure distance. (1500, 1200, 1000, 900 and 800 available) Here are the results:
- No buffs: 875 (900 listed)
- Swiftness: 1025 (1200 expected)
- Superspeed: 1500 (1800 expected)
- Superspeed + Swiftness: 1500 (1800 expected, since normally only the highest bonus is used)
About 2/3 of the distance is covered by the "leap", and 1/3 by the "roll". This was consistent across all 3 observed speeds.
And some caveats:
- There will be some variance due to somewhat imprecise measurements, small variations in direction, and possibly lag. I will have to find a testing ground with more precise markers.
- This was most pronounced with Swiftness. Unbuffed and Super boots seemed more consistent when the leap was successful.
- I have not tested in combat or with smaller speed bonuses, such as the 25% from Power Shoes and certain rune sets.
- The distance traveled seems to vary slightly on successful uses (±25 ish) possibly due to lag. Uses with Super Speed seem to be more consistent, though this is likely confounded by a low number of trials.
And some possible bugs:
- Sometimes the "leap" portion ends very prematurely. I wonder if this is also due to lag? I did not count these uses in the above results, of course.
- Sometimes the "roll" portion will go in a different direction, including backwards. I have not found a trigger for this.

Flip Skill[edit]
So apparently API says this skill now has a flip-skill (read chain skill) from 29522 to 5910 or vice-versa, not 100% sure. Not sure how to reflect this on the wiki but it might be worth keeping in mind, that this page is technically reflecting 2 skills combined in one. Both skills are basically the same thing, and my guess is the 2nd is there just for technical reasons, but thought I'd bring it up. -Darqam 14:45, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
