Hey. I saw your question on the talk page of File:S.C.I.E.N.C.E.png ("Okay, can anyone tell me how to delete a file? Thank you!"). To answer your question, whilst regular users such as yourself can't delete files, administrators can. If you add {{delete|Author request}} to the top of a file or page that you've accidentally created, then it will appear on our things to delete page + we'll get around to deleting it.
If you get to about 10 edits + your account has been registered for a day, then you can move files + pages, effectively allowing you to rename them. (i.e. you wouldn't have to upload the same file at a different name)
Possibly the best way to ensure that a file is named properly is to create a link to the missing file, such as by using an infobox like you used on S.C.I.E.N.C.E. + then clicking on the red upload file link which appears before an image exists (this way you know that the file will be linked from the infobox).
