Thief, Mesmer, aaaaaaaaand?[edit]
- → moved from Talk:Professions reveal
Well we now have the thief coming out and the mesmer will probably be one of the next one (Not backed up from official info but it's kinda obvious from the suggestions in the books, and the pink fan lady pic)So my question is what will the other proffesion be? It's supposed to be a new one no? I ask for your expectations for the other proffesion.-- Kew24 01:08, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
- While I'm not saying this is the most likely option, I'd like to see some kind of Engineer profession (rifle, pistol(s), hammer, mace(s), shield, focus, mebbe scepter). I have no idea how gameplay for that kind of thing would work, but A-net being A-net, I bet they could pull it off pretty well. Zolann The Irreverent 03:57, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
- That's my guess (I even guessed the same name :) ). We've seen only one profession that can use pistols (thief) and rifles (warrior) so far, while all other weapons can be used by a minimum of two professions. Plus, we now have a class that can use big guns and bows (War), one that can use small guns and bows (Thieft) and one that can use big and small bows (Ranger). A gun-focused character seems likely, even discounting the char silouete holding something that looks like some kind of firearm. My initial guess of support would have been that he can place some kind of automated stationary turrets. But then I saw the necromancer has at least one skill like that (Flesh wurm) and the bone fiend can also be made stationary. Plus, the class might look too much like a gun-ranger if it gets semi-pets in addition to ranged weapon specialization. So I'm not too sure anymore. So, other than that...? Landmines make sense, but again makes the class a bit too much like the ranger with his traps. Stun-grenades? Or perhaps there will be turrets, but in the enviromental weapon sense. Turrets other players can get into and use for a bit. In either case, I hope the pistol-shield option will be available. =Bificommander 10:26, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
- Only traveler class remaining to take would be a revamp of the dervish with some blend of the ritualist. The weapon spells of the ritualist went to the guardian wich leaves it's spirits and item spells remaining. I would gues a new derv based traveler using as weapons, rifle, pistol, great sword, sword and torch. Damysticreaper 13:01, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
- Well, the prime characteristics of the Dervish were enchantments and the scythe, neither of whom will be in GW2, so I don't know which parts of the dervish the new class could copy. The forms perhaps? As for spirit-replacements: Automated turrets would do more or less the same thing as attacking ritualist spirts. Just saying :) Bificommander, 09:45 21 March 2011 (UTC)
- Indeed not much for the derv to return on first sight but the scythe has been replaced by the great sword wich are both technicly the same. The forms can indeed be used in multiple ways as the 3 elite norn skills are also ranked as forms and can have new methods of function befitting the multiple races. As with the enchantments who have been replaced by boons the latest flash enchantment mechanic wich has been introduced for the dervish can be mimiced into a mechanic unique for the last traveler profession seeing that each profession has a unique mechanic of their own. So on first sight there may not be much to be copied but when giving it a closer look there is actually plenty to copy with the latest update to the dervish in terms of play.
