Prelude[edit]

Goal[edit]

Finish phase 1 of Cobalt with less than 15 players, without blocking husks, and without any condi players. The way Anet intended.

Strategy[edit]

  • One blocker takes care of all eggs and spit.
  • All other players are responsible for blowing up husks using kegs, killing veteran jungle wurms, and triggering burn phases.

Husk Disposal[edit]

Players will preemptively grab kegs and wait near their designated husk spawn locations. After husks spawn, players, in pairs, stand on top of their assigned husk and wait for them to trigger a boom boom with its attacks. Other players are on standby and should be ready to rally any downed players or step in with their own kegs if the first ones didn't work.

If a keg explodes while you have less than 50% hp, the attacker does not take any damage.
Skill Triggers Boom Boom? Description
Stomp & Punch 0No Stomp launches all players around the husk into the air (no damage). Punch does damage, knockback, and knockdown to players in front of the husk.
Lunge 1Yes Jumps and slams the ground with both fists doing AoE damage. Repeatedly applies Immobile.png immobilize.
Backhand 1Yes Quick melee attack with minor damage.
Throw 1Yes Throwing motion that applies the Parasites.png Parasites condition.

Dodge the attacks that don't trigger a boom boom. Get hit by the ones that do, but only if you have more than 50% of your hp.

After a wave of husks are cleared, players go back to the standard cycle of clearing vet wurms and running kegs.

Viability[edit]

Any method capable of killing all 3 husks every 90 seconds is viable. The traditional method with a solid condi team takes at least 40 seconds about 15 seconds. Given that the husks attack every few seconds, even a 20% chance to proc a boom boom per attack should make this method faster than condi damage.

Build[edit]

All players are still expected to prioritize power and precision. However, players may also need additional toughness (NOT vit) since they are deliberately trying to get hit by husks.

Definitions[edit]

Boom
When a husk attacks a player carrying a keg and makes it explode, both the player and husk lose half of their max hp.
Boom Boom
Similar to a "Boom", but involving 2 players, which results in instant death for the husk. A technique accidentally discovered by a careless Eilus as she was transporting kegs to Cobalt wurm.
