Atop Beacon's Perch is a running guild in Guild Wars.
History[edit]
The following relates to the creation of Atop Beacon's Perch as it pertains to the original Guild Wars.
The main concept behind this guild is that it would expand upon the legacy set down by previous major running guild Electric Celerity. It would accomplish this by being a "group that other runners could look up to", a "group that a runner would want to be a part of", and a "group that a runner would be proud to be a part of".
Ever since the disbandment of Electric Celerity in mid-2011, there hasn't been a community of experienced runners that could train and develop the new generation of runners. This lack of leadership has lead to many of the newer runners not being taught correctly.
It was believed that Chix Is God and Demonic Sin Ex should lead this new guild due to the two runners having the best chance of convincing runners to get back together, with God of Fissures being an officer.
After much consultation with many of the veteran and experienced runners, it was agreed that a new running guild would be formed.
Name[edit]
The name Atop Beacon's Perch is derived from John Winthrop's "City Upon a Hill", meaning that the community would be "watched by the world" and a "model society".
In this context, the "hill" is Beacon's Perch and the "city" is the guild of runners. In summation, this is a guild of runners that can be looked up to and admired.
Goals[edit]
The goals of Atop Beacon's Perch are as follows:
- Discover knowledge about running.
- Educate and inform others about how running works.
- Involve other players in our discoveries and events.
- Create a fun and immersive atmosphere for all parties.
