[[]] is the first part of the [[Heart of Thorns]] [[personal story]]. After the [[Pact]] fleet was destroyed by [[Mordremoth]] during its assault and many [[Sylvari]] were corrupted by the jungle dragon, the Commander arrives to find survivors struggling with the lack of leadership.

*Choose to side with Laranthir or the disgruntled Pact soldiers.
*Optional: Get advice and additional information from the others.
*Take Laranthir to recover the captured soldiers.
*Search the nearby tunnel to pick up the captured soldiers' trail.
*Climb the stairs and search the area above.
*Defeat the prison guards.

==Walkthrough==
Follow the instructions to the Pact camp led by Laranthir. There, you'll get to choose between rescuing the captured Pale Reavers or salvaging the wreckage of the Pact fleet to fortify your position.

If you choose to rescue the prisoners, you'll have to get into the underground caves nearby. This will lead the player into a few groups of the Mordrem Guard, in order to free the Pale Reavers. Once they are all released, a Mordrem Guard Overseer boss spawns, capable of attacking by summoning roots from the ground (which is announced with AoEs on the ground), with hammer strikes, or with an overhead smash, which can be interrupted via the break gauge. He is accompanied by several Mordrem Guard Stalkers. Once he is weak (around 25% health), a cutscene will play, and Mordrem Wolves will spawn.
