Possible Bug after the 2023/11/07 update[edit]

Before the update, I have a low level Ranger using the hammer (WMT is unlocked through my Thief). But after the update, my Ranger cannot equip the hammer until she reached level 80. I rolled another Ranger to check and it's confirmed that my low level Ranger cannot use the hammer. I deleted the Ranger and rolled an Elementalist, sure enough, my new Elementalist cannot use the hammer. I'm not sure if this is a bug or an intentional change. No mentions in the change log that they meant to do this. Can someone else confirm if this is the case for you also? --Sir Vincent III (talk) 06:12, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

Given what others have said in their edits it unfortunately appears be an INTENTIONAL decision. Quite boringly so. They also forgot to add that characters below level 80 cannot use weaponmaster tranining weapons. VectorSomething (talk) 20:05, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
There is a workaround to this: Go to the PvP Lobby and equip the weapon in question. After talking with some guildmates we came to the conclusion that this was most likely done because of the beta event for the "new" weapons in febuary, but that is conjecture mind you. Still, you can equip the weapons on a character under level 80 if you are in an area that pushes you up to 80 (like the PvP lobby) 95.222.118.154 13:23, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for the tip. VectorSomething (talk) 09:47, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
Bit late but this has been confirmed to be a bug as confirmed on the forums, will be fixed in next patch I believe. --ItVictor (talk) 12:00, 31 December 2023 (UTC)

Feedback 2023/08/24[edit]

You need the expansion to get weapon master training. Remove the "note" and "help expand reason" that implies you don't need to own it. https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/articles/19615678458131-Secrets-of-the-Obscure-Weaponmaster-Training --76.133.131.81 16:08, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for spotting this, making changes — Deltise Guardian trainer.png 20:39, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
Would be nice if someone who owns only SotO could confirm it. Unfortunately, just because the FAQ says you need the other expansions to access their weapons doesn't mean it is 100% true, since the pre-release blogposts said exactly that -- there have been cases where the FAQ has been incorrect. ~Sime 20:51, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
After my edits, I decided to do some testing. I own all expansions. On a level 80 Warrior that did not have Spellbreaker trained (not even to gain weapon proficiency), I was still able to equip daggers through the Weaponmaster system. On a level 23 Warrior, with Elite specializations "locked" to me, I was still able to equip daggers through the Weaponmaster system. I believe the wording in the blog post can be misleading. I agree and hope that someone with a missing expansion can contribute to clarify. — Deltise Guardian trainer.png 21:07, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
So an editor on the discord confirmed, via a friend of theirs, that the FAQ is indeed incorrect and to equip a specialization weapon, you do not need the expansion where the weapon came from. Pic here, a thief player without Path of Fire is using a rifle, the weapon associated with the PoF spec. ~Sime 23:05, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

Achievement Question[edit]

Under the achievement category SotO / Skies of Tyria there is an achievement called "Weaponmaster Training". That achievement on the wiki page links to this web page. However this web page does not mention the achievement with this name. The achievement says "Speak with Frode during or after Secrets of the Obscure chapter 3, Mother of Stars." It then states "Weaponmasters are free to wield any weapon they have learned to use, regardless of current elite specialization." The achievement has a reward of 3AP and 1 Mastery Point. None of these are mentioned on this wiki page.--Justaplayer (talk) 23:12, 27 August 2023 (UTC)

Did you overlook the "related achievements" section? --ItVictor (talk) 10:05, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

Undocumented rollback on sub level 80's using elite spec weapons[edit]

I've got a level 12 warrior who is using a torch right now, wonder if they reverted that change? -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 22:26, 22 January 2024 (UTC)

Partially undocumented, they confirmed training not working under level 80 was not intended and would be fixed in mid-january (the patch from last tuesday? dev post here), although a few people on the forums say it's still bugged for them. --ItVictor (talk) 23:48, 22 January 2024 (UTC)

Listing all weapons on profession weapon skill pages?[edit]

Why do the elite spec and expanded proficiency weapons not live on the "list of [profession] skills" pages now? They're available to the core class from level 1 now, and not including them (with a note about requirements) is just making navigating the wiki to find those skills confusing. 151.199.251.135 01:08, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
