In the pillar room, you can use a mount up until slightly after the pillar with a plank in the middle of the room. If you have a griffin, you can jump 2x directly up on the plank and switch to gliding midair, essentially at ceiling height. This allows you to skip much of the puzzle, to the pillar in Noran Guide 8(may be less if you don't have HOT gliding mastery, untested). If you also have the EOD Glide Booster, you can skip the entire pillar portion of the JP, landing on the wooden platform right before Noran Guide 9.
