How does this actually behave?, does it mean it increases damage when you have a pistol/rifle equipped but use a kit, or increases damage when actually having either of them in your hand? --Rapid Sausage (talk) 01:04, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

  • Most likely it increases damage only when not using any kit.84.109.12.2 08:55, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Logically it works only without a kit, as engi always have either pistol or rifle equipped (except underwater). But trait still might workd with kits as well, not the first time then traits works against logic. Sadly its hard to test, as equipping trait mean you will also have significant crit chance, thus damage will vary a lot.--Wyrm (talk) 21:30, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

This isn't that hard to test, actually. The damage range for the grenade kit is fairly tight and you can detect small differences of even 5% damage by visiting the heart of the mists and fooling about. I just did some simple testing by using the standard grenades first then stacking several conditions and using them again. The trait does indeed work for kits(or at least the grenade kit). Considering the engineer's aptitude for stacking multiple conditions with ease, this is a fairly easy to obtain ~10% damage boost.Mootay (talk) 20:42, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
This trait was changed in the Balance Patch recently to work with kits, before that, the description included "When wielding a rifle or a pistol" (or something along those lines.). Those comments were made before that patch.Tuomir (talk) 20:57, 13 December 2013 (UTC)
