So let me get this right, if I didn't do the living story, then I can't buy any of the ascended items used for each collection? (and in turn can't get any of this armor despite finding the rest of the pieces.) -Chieftain Alex 00:45, 17 August 2015 (UTC)

You are correct. Without doing Living Story, you will be unable to get the trinkets. For example, you must complete Point of No Return to be able to buy Jurah's Jewel (headgear collection), and you receive Caithe's Blossom (shoulder collection) as a reward for completing all of the achievements related to Echoes of the Past.
