Talk:Locked Mythical Kodan Cache
When I found this location, I led other people to it and they were also able to claim a mythical cache.--MBurrito 20:13, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
For the Harvest Plots location, I was not able to dig it up today but other people were able to. Afterwards I was able to dig up other lesser caches, meaning that there could be differences in what locations are available for certain players. --MBurrito 23:55, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
After the daily reset, myself and one other were able to find the Harvest Plots location again and both got mythical caches. Dig spots for each of the caches seem to be consistent. --MBurrito 00:17, 24 August 2024 (UTC)
There is one at Cragged Rock, confirmed by another player as well. --Abryk 03:36, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
26 August 2024 - Lowland Shore map, First Location Coursing Uplands just above the first letter on the map. Second Location 3,5k points south from Journeykin Outpost Waypoint. Managed to dig both locations with one character. Orminis (talk)
Confirming that you can indeed find 3 every day in Lowland Shore. They change on each map IP. A single character can find all 3 of them. - Lineste (talk) 14:30, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
Summary of observations about Locked Mythical Kodan Cache locations[edit]
The placement of mythical kodan caches is specific to the map instance you are in, though there are a limited number of spawn locations for each one. There are 3 mythicals in Lowland Shore and 1 in Janthir Syntri.
The mythical in Janthir Syntri seems to generally be somewhere in the northern half of the eastern landmass. I've never personally seen it spawn in other areas, though I can't rule it out.
One of the Lowland Shore mythicals seems to generally be in the southwest, in the broad area around the Journeykin Outpost, all the way out to the western and southern edges of the map. I refer to this as "the southwest one". A second one seems to usually be around Autumn's Vale or Exorheic Falls, but I've also seen over in Coursing Upland as well. I refer to this as "the middle one". A third one I usually see over in Bjorn Thicket, though I've also seen it in eastern Cragged Upland, if I see it at all. I refer to this as "the east one".
I'm not entirely sure that the "east one" always spawns, or if one/some of its potential spawn locations are bugged/out of range/off the beaten path/whatever. I have seen maps with all three mythicals in the same instance, but I've also been in map instances where the other two are discovered but no "east one" despite searching high and low with a fine-toothed comb. The latter is so common that I've seen some people doubt the third one even exists, but part of the reason I'm making this post is to offer a personal confirmation that it does. Still, something seems screwy with it.
You cannot get the same mythical cache twice in the same day (resetting at standard daily reset). By this I mean once you've dug up the Lowlands "southwest one", you cannot dig up another Lowlands "southwest one" in another map instance even if it's in a different location, though you can still get a "middle one" and an "east one".
On top of this, once you've dug up a particular location, even if you only get a lesser/minor cache from it, you cannot dig up that location in any other map instance, even if it's a mythical you haven't gotten that day. This has a lot of potential to screw people if you start searching in one map instance but wind up having to leave before you get all your mythicals and come back later. This also makes it incredibly difficult to figure out wtf is going on with the Lowlands "east one" - Tanetris (talk) 14:24, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
Change to the number of mythical caches in Lowland Shore?[edit]
I have been farming fairly regularly, and I wasn't always paying attention to the actual number of mythical caches, but over the last 4 days, I have had 3 days with only 2 mythical caches in Lowland, and today my map seems to have only 1. For the record, today I have dug up (in Lowland Shore only): 1 mythical cache, 11 major caches, 14 minor caches and 21 lesser caches. It's possible I just didn't find them, but it seems that consistently there's been maps that do not have 3 mythicals. I'm curious if anyone is having the same experience and whether we should update the wiki page to reflect that possible change. Maybe now Lowland is 1-3 instead of 3 guaranteed. - Lineste (talk) 12:48, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- The first time I did Kodan Caches, I could find a decent number of mythical caches; having done this a few more times this week, I would tend to agree that they might have done something to the drop rate. -Chieftain Alex 16:57, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
Lowland Shore 3 caches research[edit]
I am trying to figure out the logic behind those caches since you can get up to 3 caches per account here, from my understanding Lowland Shore maps can spawn between 1 to 3 cache, you can instance hop to get extra caches, but this doesn't works for everyone and this is what I am trying to figure out.
I have two theories that need testing:
1. The spots for mythic caches can also spawn minor/lesser kodan caches and if you dig on that spot it prevents you from digging a mythic on the same spot (I really doubt about this one)
2. You can only dig one mythic per region, for example, digging a mythic in the coursing upland prevents you from digging any other mythic on that region (this one makes more sense to me and was what has been happening consistently)

- I can confirm that your first point is correct. I have tested it, and on a map that had a confirmed mythical cache, I was not able to see the dirt mound because I had already dug up that specific spot on another IP. This is already mentioned on the wiki page and I think we can assume it's correct for now. Regarding the second point, I think you may be on to something. I have been trying to keep track of my mythical locations the past week, but I don't have good data yet. I will continue to monitor, and maybe write down coordinates for every day. This page Detected_Treasure/Locations_research also has more information. - Lineste (talk) 15:36, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
