The vista is frustrating, up at the top of a maze of scaffolding. On my way to it I encountered a locked gate (and an invisible wall preventing you from jumping over it from above). Anyone know what causes that?
On the next level above the gate, you can stand to the downward side of the fence and jump beyond the gate. It is a tough jump but that's how you get there.
How to get the vista[edit]
In the central room, look for a small round tunnel in the wall, it is marked with 2 torches on the right side of it's door, you'll see a couple of dredge mining the entrance. Follow the tunnel and go up the scaffolding right up to the top. Halfway to the top there is a closed gate, this is your route to the vista. There is a safe spot right at the end in case you have a mob train after you, mobs rarely follow you there. At the top of the tower there is a connecting walkway that goes around the vertical drilling machine, follow the walkway and you'll see a veteran dredge. Behind him there is a chain, this is the chain that opens the vista gate, pull the chain and make your back until you reach the gate again. Take the path through the gate, it will take you back up and hugs the wall of the central room until it makes a turn towards the vista. Be careful if you run past mobs, the first few are ok but i advise you kill the 2 mobs before the platform with the vista (each containing 2 dredge ). Once you reach the vista there is a veteran dredge you have to deal with along with a turret, careful not to accidentally dodge off the platform as the fall is deadly and you'll have to redo everything. I've done this vista with my elementalist and with my mesmer, as ele the easy tactic is to summon your earth ele to keep the veteran dredge busy while you deal with the turret then commence the dredge face smashing. For mesmer i did it with a greatsword, clones kept him busy while i took down the turret. Hope this helps anyone having trouble with this vista. Good luck :) Darkshadow 21:13, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
The problem is that chain does nothing. (It used to, but now seems to be bugged.) The only way seems to be jumping around that invisible wall. Edit: the chain indeed opens the gate. If you run back, the defeated dredge won't have respawned and you can get through the gate no problem.
Dredge Chest[edit]
The chest next to the vista, when opened, shows the same animation as a loot chest from the Borderlands game series.
