Talk:Deputy Crackshot

This entire mechanic can be frustrating. If you are unable to see the cannonballs flying, you need to hold the mouse button down longer.

If any part of the game requires a walkthrough or guide just to do it, if it cannot possibly be done with player ingenuity, investigation, and persistence, then then whole thing is a fail. There is no indication in game that the mouse is even required for this, other than to align the wheel thingie that may or may not be a targeting crosshair (there is actually no explanation of what that thing is, and I'm not even convinced it does anything). Holding the 2 key for random lengths of time doesn't cause the shot to become any more visible than not holding it at all. There is no visual feedback to tell you that you are hitting anything other than the inside of the wall. This, the lighthouse dive in LA, and Collapsed Observatory are complete BS. 73.180.196.185 21:22, 11 October 2015 (UTC)

Walkthrough[edit]

The majority of the cannons are aiming in roughly the correct location. A little common sense here goes a long way. For example, try to avoid using the very far left cannon to aim for the extreme far right target. The first this that you need to do is to fire a test shot. The best way is to hold down the number 2 skill until just after half way and then release. You will see which direction the cannonball goes. If you are unable to see it, try adjusting the quality in your graphics card settings. Use skills 1 and 3 to move the cannon left or right and fire again, do not worry about timings for now, just aim for roughly half way, but do ensure that the left or right trajectory is correct. Once you are aiming in the correct place with left or right it is time to adjust the vertical distance. This can be more tricky as a degree of skill is required. The easiest way is to place your thumb or finger nail on the screen so that you have a fixed reference point as to where you released the shot last time. Unfortunately, this is a trial and error situation and can get a little frustrating and tedious, (as can many things in GW2 such as jumping puzzles, but don't get me started on that). Luckily, you don't have to have an exact shot, as the cannonball explodes, and a shot that is reasonably close will still count as a hit. Keep an eye on the flags on the wall in front of you. Initially there are 3 red flags with thumbs down, that will change to blue flags with thumbs up. Hitting the same target again will not award multiple credits for completing this challenge. You need to hit 3 different targets to complete the challenge. Stu (talk) 09:43, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
