I can't do this anymore. Not for my wife, not for these "Unseen" gods. Alice swears she's doing all she's ordered to keep us safe, but it's not enough. Not anymore. The screams, the sleepless nights, the watching eyes of the woman that Saul bloke left in charge. We haven't seen or heard from Alice's sister in a week.
I've made up my mind. We're taking our children south, back to Kryta. If I must toil under the heel of the sovereign, better that than ending up on the bloodstone.
Bags are stashed, hidden for the right moment. Elsie has been camping with me and her mother; she's even learned more advanced magic from some of the White Mantle savants in their downtime. She has a talent for it, I guess. It's Dean I worry for most; he's so young and shy. If something were to happen to him, I don't know if I could forgive myself. I only pray that Alice feels the same.
