Emund's Journal

Not much time left now until the final assault. It feels good to be here for it—to be the tip of the spear and see with my own eyes that our work is done. I've learned a lot here that I can take back as well, to improve the way we do things.

We're securing Tyria's future; that's the important thing. But as we approach our last battle in Nayos, my thoughts return always to Mabon and what they did to him. He would have cautioned against revenge, but it can serve a purpose. The vengeance we earn today prevents another evil tomorrow. For all the people he protected without them ever knowing it, he deserves to be avenged, at least.

I was just a snot-nosed lowlife when he brought me in, but he saw something in me, like he saw something in all of us. Now, these young soldiers look up at me with wide eyes like they see it, too. Maybe he was right. Everything I do—everything I become—is because of him. I wish I would have told him that. I just hope I made him proud.
