Ball of Dark Energy has 100% salvage chance from weapons and armor.
Heavy armor (shoulderguard / footwear / gloves) with its use of 2 deldrimor steel and 1 bolt of damask is most likely the cheapest option if deldrimor steel is cheaper than damask. Helm requires 2 damask and 1 deldrimor steel , so if deldrimor steel is more expensive than damask that is the cheapest route.
Shields require 4 deldrimor steel ingots (as opposed to requiring wood or leather).

Cheaper Minstrel's gear for WvW[edit]
Typically used on tank Chronomancers with Inspiration trait line Scrappers with medkit and Firebrands running mace+shield with the Honor trait line's Invigorated Bulwark and Force of Will
- Shield option: Caladbolg Astera requires completion of H.O.T.
- Shield option #2: Horologicus is
about half the pricecheaper per GW2 efficiency : it has the Minstrel's stat option (also Berserker's). Since the largest cost of Glint's Bastion is the Mystic Shield you can get a Glint's Bastion (Trailblazer's/Celestial) for minimal cost. - Staff: Both Bo and Yggdrasil have the Minstrel option and the Mystic Staff cost is shared between both collections.
- Amulet : use Bloodstone one (reward track rewards 50 at end box out of 125 needed for the amulet) , or Eternal Ice Shards for Asgeir's Amulet , Dragonfall farming PvE players can use Scion-Spike Amulet
- Rings: Use Bloodstone ones (reward track rewards 50 at end box of 100 needed for the ring), attune the second one for total of two rings ; another option is Diflourite ring from Sandswept Isles or Mistborn Band from Dragonfall (each costs 100 map currency)
- Accessories: use the Bitterfrost Frontier winterberries (100 per track out of 300 per accessory so gathering is faster); Ember Bay (50 per track out of 150 per accessory) , Sandswept Isles (50 per track out of 150 per accessory), or Dragonfall (56 per track due to Dragonfall Coffers out of 150 per accessory) reward tracks for the second accessory. A more recent option is Eternal Ice shards for Asgeir's Talisman and converted to Mistborn Motes (Mists-Charged Treasure) or Difluorite (Multifaceted Difluorite Earrings)
- Minstrel's Orichalcum Imbued Inscription is awarded for Story Mission: The Jungle Provides in Heart of Thorns Act 1 , which makes it easy to change a mainhand ascended item in the Mystic Forge using the Anthology of Heroes
- Minstrel's Intricate Gossamer Insignia is awarded for Story Mission: The Jungle Provides in Heart of Thorns Act 1
- Minstrel's Armor : Triumphant or Legacy armor reward track for exotics

The materials themselves are relatively alright, but the ascended recipes tend to be expensive. Available on crafted warbeast and bountyhunter's (soulbound). The reward track ones are not salvageable meaning it is unwise to put any monk runes in them. Account-bound Exotics include:

One of the ideal stat combinations for Firebrand. These pieces are account-bound so they can be shared with a Renegade (for alacrity).
