Value placement[edit]

The value of the buff should be listed BEFORE the attribute, exactly as it is in the game. Wombatt 17:31, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Related, all item effects like this are buffs, right? There's never an effect that subtracts from your stats. We could subsume the "+" into this template so that it doesn't have to be given explicitly. And I could run a bot task to remove it from everywhere it's currently used. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 21:35, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

I have yet to see one that's a negative. Could you make it so that things like Magic Find and Critical Damage automatically add the % on, too? I tried to make it so the number showed up before the attribute, but apparently my copy-and-paste skills are not up to the task. Wombatt 21:39, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
Yes, those are also good ideas. It looked like the edit you made should've worked, what was wrong with it? Found it, you had a single unmatched brace. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 21:41, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
Figures! Wombatt 21:46, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
Nice! Should we rename this to Template:Benefits? Because it will see probably some more general use in the wiki not only in the Accessory infobox... - Yandere Talk to me... 21:49, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
I'd like a better name for it than "benefits" if we do that. That is such a non-gamer term. :P —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 21:54, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
Well, what "gamer term" would you like best... By the way I updated the template so that the plus is a default display. There is a malus attribute to switch is to '-'. So... could you get your bot running? - Yandere Talk to me... 22:16, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
Let's call the new template stat bonus! It is gamey, short and decripes pretty accurate what it does... ^^ - Yandere Talk to me... 16:44, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
item stat since these can be used for all items, and they may not always be bonuses. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:55, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
Signed. item stat sounds good. What is the procedure now. Create a Template:item stat, copy the code from this page to the item stat page, use the item stat template to keep this page running and let your bot replace all things until this template becomes obsolet? - Yandere Talk to me... 15:04, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
Nope, just move this page - the redirect will keep everything working. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 15:20, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't know this works with a redirect. That makes things simple. - Yandere Talk to me... 15:35, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Related, all item effects like this are buffs, right? There's never an effect that subtracts from your stats - just because nobody has found an Ascalonian Grim Cesta yet... --snogratUser Snograt signature.png 16:46, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Well you can make it a debuff by setting malus = 1 is that what you asked. - Yandere Talk to me... 16:54, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
I was being facetious, but thank you :) --snogratUser Snograt signature.png 17:00, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
@Yandere: The Snog is often facetious, albeit mostly harmless. Don't worry about him. :P —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 17:24, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Aw Doc - you do remember me! :D (it's ok - I'll hush now) --snogratUser Snograt signature.png 20:36, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Percentages[edit]

At the moment Magic Find and Critical Damage have a percentage added. But boon duration and condition duration also use a percentage increase, don't they? - Yandere Talk to me... 14:50, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

I was adding those at the same time you were editing. I removed the no_perc parm because it's not necessary - those attributes are always measured in %, it's part of the string templates in the dat file. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:54, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
Very nice... ^^ - Yandere Talk to me... 14:58, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Crafting infobox[edit]

Need to put a variables field in template:crafting infobox as well, for jewels. Wombatt 16:38, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Added it to the it to the crafting infobox for gemstones and jewels. I think I did everything right, but we have something about 30+ °C here so I am not thinking straight.
It is also missing in the item infobox for sigils and runes, but these two usually don't give attribute boni but other stuff. I am not quite sure how to approch this issue. - Yandere Talk to me... 17:03, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Magic find category[edit]

Can we add a hidden category whenever this template is used with magic find? There are quite a lot of items that still haven't had their stats updated since the mf change, and having a category to list them seems like the fastest and easiest way to find them all. I figure this template is used with magic find in relatively few places besides outdated equipment infoboxes. Psycho Robot (talk) 01:42, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

Categories are overrated. :P —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 02:27, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Oh yes... of course... why didn't I think about using the ask... um... parser function? I would have thought of this if I weren't so tired from fighting terrorists. Psycho Robot (talk) 02:34, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

Missing stats in quite a few places[edit]

this edit hasn't been thought through I think.

Using dpl to check parameters doesn't work with underscores. I reckon we need to drive a bot through all invocations, replacing the various removed terms with their equivalent with spaces. (can't be loads, but I've found at least 3 by spot checks) -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 21:39, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

It is a perfectly good edit with nothing that could go wrong.--Relyk ~ talk < 21:49, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
it looked that way with the dpl. sadly it looks like about 300 affected pages. (~1/6) --Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 22:40, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
Absolutely nothing possibly wrong.--Relyk ~ talk < 23:15, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
364 of the blighters. ~270 done by hand to use prefix parameter. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 00:34, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

Lost semantic meaning[edit]

Previously the items could be tagged in such a way as to create properties that could then be queried. This functionality has been lost. Is it possible to bring that back? I am interested in doing queries like the one below, which used to work:

The stats are derived from other properties as in item stat lookup and prefix attributes, so you would query based on type, level, rarity, class, and prefix. That's why those properties aren't useful to have for queries.--Relyk ~ talk < 06:06, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

Expertise and Concentration[edit]

I don't know enough about templates to change this myself, but can we have additional stats for expertise and concentration, separate from condition and boon duration? Most pages are currently using them interchangeably, giving +9% condition duration instead of +9 condition duration. CosmicChopsticks (talk) 21:54, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
