Screenshot[edit]

The current one (that I uploaded) needs replaced -- The background is too noisy, you can't make out what's Aatxe and scenery. And the background glitched for the high-res screenshot. :s Torrenal 18:46, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

Merge[edit]

I'm not sure I agree with the merge. While it is merely a stronger version of an Aatxe, they're also separate NPCs and veterans are rarer. I think that it'd be best to determine how to denote veteran/champion generically named NPCs first, as I don't think we'll be denoting that there's a Champion Ice Wurm underneath Durmand Priory (location) and within Dredgehaunt Cliffs on Ice Wurm. It just causes too much confusion especially if someone, for some reason, is wanting to search out the veteran/champion versions specifically. Konig/talk 17:58, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

I agree with you. At first, it seemed like creatures had a small chance to spawn as a veteran version, but it's become plain that veterans and champions spawn in specific places and sometimes for specific reasons, like part of an event. Many events specifically name the target, like "Kill the Champion Ice Wurm before it destroys the Durmand Priory", it would be odd for that Champion Ice Wurm's data to be found intermingled on the Ice Wurm page. It's already a challenge to denote each level for each location and drop, adding veteran and champion status on the same page onto that is going to become messy, and people are going add stuff without specifying, which will mean others will have to verify things. Maybe add an optional parameter (or two) to the infobox, to indicate if there's a veteran and/or champion version of the creature, which links to these pages, and on these pages to link back to the base creature (e.g. "Aataxe" in this case). This would mean you'd be keeping the data separate, but still make finding data on a specific template/ranked creature easier. 192.168.104.81 18:38, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
Quite a large number of creatures have a veteran version (if not every kind of creature). I could see it being denoted in the Notes section instead, but infobox would just clutter that, imo. Konig/talk 18:46, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
I don't see how it'd be cluttered? At most you're adding 2 more links to various info boxes (you could argue 3 if you include the page you're on?). You'd have something underneath the name value pairs list that's already there, then a space and something to the effect of: "Base • Veteran • Champion". I don't see that being cluttered, but that's just me. ~ PheNaxKian talk 18:59, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
Including links in the infobox makes sense to me. It's one or two lines, often none. It helps navigation, is fairly fundamental to the creature. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 19:25, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
Question: would the "elite" (as I see folks referring to them in game) from the dungeon - the enemies with silver circles around the icon which are similarly stronger than regular foes, have their own page? If so, 3 lines for a good number. And I argued cluttered due to all the other stuff alongside that, really. And it just doesn't feel relevant enough to me to denote in the infobox. Konig/talk 23:29, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
The way I see it it's just as relevant as the varying levels you see it at, which is arguably a bigger clutter as that can be a lot of different levels and you're having to specific the levels next to the area they appear anyway, so you're duplicating information. As for elites...hard to say really, you could argue they're separate but at the same time that they're not because they're called the same? I suppose that'd be a judgement call... ~ PheNaxKian talk 13:31, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
The difference of the same NPC at different levels is merely more abilities (aside from scaled health and strength, ofc), whereas veterans have much greater stats at the same level (and champions even more - most champions also have a unique-to-champions "Defiant" buff). Certain veterans and champions also have differing abilities (though not these). Though the most important part is that veteran and champions are uniquely placed spawns, whereas these... not so much. They're like the gw1:Category:Anonymous bosses of GW1. Konig/talk 22:16, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
Looking at the current state of each page and possible future state its not worth keeping the pages seperate as a single line could indicate which part goes with which such as (Veteran) can easily be placed to indicate if that object or location is only for the veteran rank and not the normal. There is an extremely lack of difference between the pages for the different ranks of monsters. Ascalonian Captain and Champion Ascalonian Captain are prime examples of just lack of difference. Also Veteran Aatxe and Aatxe both have very few differences that its not even worth having 2 separate pages. The stats such as HP and damage are really hard to record in this game especially since everything changes based on the number of people present during an event. Spawning[edit]

They can also spawn in stead of regular aatxe when a portal is destroyed, but no idea if it's related to how long the portal has been open or not. Mediggo 05:25, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

Immediately opened and closed portals spawn Shades; portals which I have seen with 1 or 2 Shades around spawn Aatxes; portals which have 3 Shades around spawn Veteran Aatxes. Shades spawn overtime, thus it's only logical that the longer a portal remains open, the more difficult the last spawn is (it's possible that you may encounter a Vet Aatxe with a portal with fewer Shades if they were killed but the portal wasn't destroyed by a player for some reason). Konig/talk 11:10, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
Far as i seen it doesnt matter how long the portal has been open. It only depends on which portal it is. I could make a map of which portals when closed spawn a Veteran Aatxe and which ones spawn only the regular. It is not time based. Suddenflame123 01:25, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
Destroyed a portal that had literally just appeared and it spawned a Veteran Aatxe. It has nothing to do with time, and if it does, then it's not the only factor. Perhaps more likely to spawn one? But I doubt it. Removing that comment.79.66.209.61 07:54, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
