Anyone aware of any limit to the friends list like in GW1 (e.g. capping out at 60, some other integer amount, etc)? —ǥrɩɳsɧƴɖɩđđɭɘş User Grinshpon blinky cake.gif 23:59, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

I tested the block list yesterday and managed to block over 270 people. The limit is probably 500 (same as guild limit) or more. 188.238.226.188 13:36, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Blocked[edit]

Anyone know if people you block can see your online status? I find people who add you to friends that haven't ever said a word to you to be a little creepy. C The 01:28, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

Anyone know if a person you Blocked can still end up on your PvP team in ranked or unranked randomly?

Grayed name in list[edit]

A couple of people show up with their names in gray, instead of the high-contrast white. They are online. Does anyone know what this signifies? 192.168.104.82 20:15, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Character select screen perhaps? -- MS 20:38, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
They're playing GW1. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 21:07, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
Ah, that makes sense. Thank you. 75.37.19.214 01:36, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Privacy[edit]

Thy can't we disable the view of being online in gw1/gw2 to whoever we want..? theres no way to keep privacy from anyone in any way, invisible mode works only after logged in and only while playing gw2 and also to all players... its very unpleasant way. Block list should block personal view of status --31.183.5.34 18:21, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

Nicknames[edit]

Anyone know why the nicknames keep resetting? It's very annoying! Some of the people in our guild have strange character names. I go through the friends list and add nicknames to them all so I know who is who. Then several weeks later they have all reset! WHY?!?

Invisible status[edit]

So apparently if you set yourself to invisible, you can still see /say and /map but cannot see guild chat at all. That's nice. Thanks, Anet. --

Block list Offline appearance[edit]

"If you block someone, they will always see you offline"

I would really like to have this confirmed. I currently have well above 60 people in my block list, of which one blocked me back too, and I've also tried with a few guildies. If trying to whisper the person who blocked me, it gives me the message "The player you are trying to whisper is not online", but in contacts list, the player still shows up as online.

Would also be nice to have party blocking confirmed, since I have a bunch of scammers/dungeon kickers in my list, and it's about to get annoying to match the list towards LFG every time I want to join a dungeon. Q4Rspwn (talk) 19:52, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

I just tested with a friend, and have updated the wiki page on this - blocking another player does not prevent them from seeing your online status or your world location. 68.3.118.199 02:33, 20 August 2015 (UTC)

Adding a Contact[edit]

Is it possible to add a contact by typing in one of his character's names only? Or do you have to type in his entire account name (the "username.4digits" thing)? --175.145.234.11 16:53, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

It should be possible yes. Also i have a feeling that you can add account names without the 4 digits... -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 18:08, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Adding EU/NA[edit]

Can I add an EU player if I'm in a NA server (and viceversa)? 79.51.186.97 22:50, 18 July 2019 (UTC)

Absolutely, you can. Inculpatus cedo (talk) 00:39, 19 July 2019 (UTC)

Feedback 2022/08/02[edit]

I was wondering if adding a person to the Block List actually causes you to be removed from their Friend List. Did the editor actually try this, and verify it? Because it isn't in the patch notes. --Inculpatus cedo (talk) 20:18, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

Yup, it's been tested, and that's how it works. ~Sime 20:19, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

Blocking[edit]

Blocking a player now removes your account from their friends list. Veeber (talk) 19:40, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
