Defend Researcher Gabbi as she readies her new weapon is a level 59 event that occurs in Nonmoa Lake. Gabbi gradually calibrates the weapon, but is attacked by krait from the lake. The krait come from 3 directions: left of the large rock, right of it, and further to the right. Try to intercept the krait early, since they use aoe attacks that will damage the weapon and Gabbi and can't effectively be countered.

- Researcher Gabbi: Just watch the wild swings. You're as dangerous to my health as those beasts.
- Crusader Reinbern: As if my swings could reach one as low to the ground as you! Ha ha!
When encountering enemies:
- Crusader Reinbern: Stay back. I can handle this.
- Researcher Gabbi: Defend my device!
- Crusader Reinbern: Back, creature!
- Researcher Gabbi: Protect the equipment...and me!
On success:
- Researcher Gabbi: Superior work, even by my standards. The quaggan and hylek should be most pleased.
- Crusader Reinbern: Don't forget the one who kept threats at bay while you tinkered.
- Researcher Gabbi: It is more difficult to operate a hexspanner with skill than it is to swing a sword.
- Crusader Reinbern: Let's see you fight off krait with your hexwhatsit next time.
- Researcher Gabbi: Ah, but that's where my device comes in. I'm ready to dispense a surprise for the krait.
