etiquette[edit]

Hi.

Please try to avoid responding to comments that are two years old, unless the circumstances are exceptional.

There is nothing constructive in getting in the last word, particularly when you weren't a member of the conversation in the first place. Necroing a thread is highly frowned upon on Forums, and this is a wiki, not a forum so commenting on old non-constructive conversations is even more of a thing.

Thanks. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.png A F K When Needed 05:16, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

So, my comment wasn't constructive, yet all of the others were just flaming arguments. God forbid I add to the discussion on the discussion page. As you said this is not a forum, so the only way this is could be "necroing" is if one monitors recent changes vigorously enough to give the illusion of forum posts on a forum website. I'll be sure to avoid joining in on any further discussion on any discussion page ever again. Sorry for any strife I may have caused you. Thanks for not being overly-dramatic about it. Oh.
If all the others were flaming arguments, that doesn't mean joining in is the way to go. That kind of mentality leads to edit-warring, which in return leads to protected pages, banned editors and exasperated members of the community.
The discussion page is for discussing the article. The idea isn't that you go to Talk:Evasive Animation and start discussing the weather. It's the discussion page of a particular article.
Your argument about necroing misses the point so perfectly, I'm honestly unsure of how to respond. I don't care if you think the word is relevant or not; don't randomly join in conversations two years after they happened, just to talk about Lord of The Rings. Nobody from the original discussion will notice, so why would you even bother typing a message that the people you're talking to won't even see?
Calm down. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.png A F K When Needed 05:31, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
You're acting as if the discussion page is one continuous, ongoing environment, which is not always the case. If someone were to find the article, and click on the discussion page to read comments, I'm perfectly in line to add something to a past discussion.
You're going to have to do better than "misses the point perfectly (...) I can't respond" in order to convince me that "this is a wiki, not a forum, so necroing is more of a thing." Check the GuildWars 1 wiki, and I'm sure you're an active member there as am I, but there are tons of "necroing" posts there. Yet, I have never jumped on a single person for doing so, because they are simply adding to the talk page. There is not an ettique issue there, and you're the first I've seen to have brought it up as such, especially in a non-forum environment.
Ironic, isn't it, how I'm lectured about getting the last word and constructive comments, yet you respond so aggressively. I recommend a soothing hot-tub of bubbling suds, or perhaps a short stroll in the midnight air. Rikk Panda the Grape User Rikk Panda the Grape They're On Fire Panda.jpg 05:43, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Unless one of you can tell me why this discussion is worth having, I'm going to declare it closed. Felix Omni Signature.png 06:01, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

user image for your sig[edit]

Hello. Just want to give you the heads up, I changed the image name in your signature to File:User Rikk Panda the Grape They're On Fire Panda.jpg so as to follow the correct naming conventions on this wiki. Please make the adjustments as nesseary because They're On Fire Panda.jpg has been tagged for deletion. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 20:07, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

For clarity's sake, the necessary adjustments are nothing more than changing the link in your signature text in Preferences, as Venom has already updated the images on all talk pages you've signed. Felix Omni Signature.png 20:47, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
