Posting[edit]
Howdy! To elaborate, archives are old conversations that are primarily kept for reference and historical values. Posting in an archive will usually get deleted as a new post is not archive material. If you intend on creating a new topic (or joining in on one), you should do so in a non-archived environment. This way your comments do not go unheard, and do not get immediately deleted. Anyways, if you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line. Happy posting. Venom20 02:25, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
Signing[edit]
Howdy again, seems I'm the most popular person on your talk page :P. Just popping in to remind you to always sign your posts. You must use ~~~~ to sign your posts (4 tildes). This isn't so much a problem, but it helps everyone to see who is leaving what message, that way you can get proper credit for your opinions. The catch is that you only need to sign your comments on talk pages. If you decide that you want to edit an actual article, then of course there is no need to sign. Cheers! I always sign my posts--Hubbard The Warrior 14:17, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry then, I just saw this and this that I corrected and thought I'd drop a little knowledge your way. Speaking of dropping knowledge, remember as well, to properly indent your posts using :'s. The further you need to indent, the more :'s you should use. Just look at the post above the one that you are planning on using and add 1 more :. That's a good rule of thumb. I really can see A-net getting sued by blizzard--Hubbard The Warrior 14:18, 6 December 2010 (UTC) 03:40, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- Why? 24.243.7.67 04:06, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- I would also like to hear this theory. Venom20 05:40, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
because the new guild wars sounds EXACTLY like wow, you get stats now, pets have skills, you get fear (does the same as wow fear), you get non class specific heavy/medium/light armor, you get achievements, weapon system is roughly the same as wows, stuns (same as wows), external knockbacks, new epuipment to match wows such as pauldrens rings etc, level cap is 80, no more second profession, no more pvp character, new races+new racial skills, you must channel some skills now, no more portals except for dungeons (like wow entirely), warriors get stances (not like gw1 stances, stances that actually determine your fighting), trait system/talent system, norns=druids, you get DoTs and HoTs now, even some skills resemble wow skills such as dragons breath and many more, its lost its guild wars feel and has just became like wow.--Hubbard The Warrior 14:18, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- <sarcasm> OMG they made an MMORPG! Let the lawsuits begin! </sarcasm> Aquadrizzt (talk)(contribs) 14:47, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- lol @ aqua, These concepts that you are describing are commonplace in RPG's. Pets have skills in various other games. Pieces of equipment like spaulders and pauldrons are real pieces of armor dating back to the 15th century. Level cap is an arbitrary number. Is the number 80 somehow patented by Blizzard? If I recall correctly, I hear that they are changing the cap to 85 anyways. Also, they started at 60 and have incremented at each expansion. I'm also slightly confused. "new races+new racial skills" Are you saying that the creation of new races also mimics wow? These concepts are prevalent in many RPG's, I don't see the "copying". There are of course going to be similar elements, but again, all RPG's have similar elements. ZOMG!! WOW has a fireball spell, GW is copying them!!! Venom20 15:04, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- So I herd GW1 copied WoW cause it haz sword and magic sticks too? ShadowRunner 15:49, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- Wow, so some very generic staples of the genre that are present in WoW are also present in Guild Wars 2. I think Nintendo should also sue ArenaNet because Pokemon can only have 4 moves, and ArenaNet just grabbed that concept and made it 10 and called it their idea. 66.176.28.250 16:00, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- And before you know it we have WW3 because a clash between gamedevelopers.. Oh noez! -- Cyan 16:06, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Hey guys, circlejerking is fun and all but you can stop doing it on this guy's talk page. Thank you. --Riddle 16:28, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- Riddle, that's not nice. @ Others, that's enough and getting annoying. @ Hubbard, People from ArenaNet came from Blizzard. I don't think there's going to be any "lawsuit", so I feel that it's just speculation and that one must realize they're all games and not "exactly" the same even if they may be similar. Ariyen 16:43, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
WoW is the only RPG ive ever played so I dont really know thanks for clearing it up though--Hubbard The Warrior 01:27, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- I meant some. Sorry. However, I wish I knew where I read about such things... Anyway, I too played WoW, before I started playing Guild Wars. I gave up the monthly fees as well as hacks, bad graphics (I didn't see quite as much detail as I do in gw), etc. I had thought that gw seemed to have stolen some as you mentioned here and did my readings then... I'd suggest that It'd be nice to learn more about Guild Wars, before saying such. In my opinion, learning about each game not only appreciates the games, but there's the ability to understand the differences, etc. and why each have succeeded in their own way. Ariyen 04:55, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- Ive played gw/wow since they came out, just not much else, the fear thing just struck me as a surprise then I started seeing more simularities, just looked more like wow then gw to me. --Hubbard The Warrior 05:10, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- A lot of games may have similarities, but I don't think that makes them a duplicate of each other. Ariyen 05:44, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- But Look at Guild wars one then look at the spoilers for GW2 then look at wow, wow is extremely similar to GW2 and gw1 is far from.--Hubbard The Warrior 05:46, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- Just to comment on some specific similarities you mentioned...
- "no more second profession" Just like every other MMO, basically
- "no more pvp character" Like every other MMO, though you do get everything unlocked in PvP, so it's basically like PvP Characters Plus(TM)
- "weapon system is roughly the same as wows" besides, y'know, your first five skills being determined by weapon.
- "you get achievements" like every other game on Steam. Oh, and GW1.
- "no more portals except for dungeons (like wow entirely)" many or most MMOs
- "norns=druids" Dunno where you get that idea. Isn't druid a WoW class, in the first place, not a race? --ஸ Kyoshi 06:34, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- This convosation was over ages ago, and by that i meant norns are like druids+shapeshifting and love of nature--Hubbard The Warrior 07:01, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, didn't realize. --ஸ Kyoshi 07:54, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- The conditions in GW2 are also included in many MMORPG's. For example, you find 'Fear' also in Aion, it works on the same way, the only difference is the animation (and Aion is also part of NCsoft, like GW2, sharing ideas is cool) =D -- Cyan 08:32, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

As I said, GW/WoW are the only MMO's I have played, my apologies--Hubbard The Warrior 08:34, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- And we needed RC flooding to prove GW2 is a stereotypical MMORPG with subtle differences, why? - Infinite - talk 11:34, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Signature[edit]
Please do not use mainspace images (i.e. "Heritage Helment") in your signature. If you want to use an image like that re-upload it at something like "File:User Hubbard Sig.<extension>" Aqua (T|C) 02:50, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
why--Hubbard The Warrior 03:28, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hey, I just moved the file you uploaded to File:User Hubbard.sig.Heritage Warhelm.png. The convention here on the wiki is that users upload images with "User_Username" @ the beginning. The purpose of it is organization.-- Shew 03:57, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
- The reason is because the mainspace images may be updated as we get new information/better icons. For example, if I got a better "Heritage Warhelm" image, I would have uploaded it there. Not only does it help with customization, but it saves trouble from moving mainspace images. Aqua (T|C) 04:07, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
- In case you didn't check your talk page (given that you just reuploaded the image to its previous name), here's a friendly reminder to upload user images with the title "User_Hubbard_<imageName>".-- Shew 15:52, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
