This is all a rough draft, per se.

Users and administrators[edit]

This is an outline on my thoughts of how Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Adminship should be laid out.

Users[edit]

Users are the core of the community, and may go to the level of Sysop or Bureaucrat. They are expected to follow policies and guidelines. However, if following them will restrict them from adding contructive content, they should not be held back by them. Users are held accountable by Sysops, and bureaucrats are selected by users.

Sysops[edit]

Sysops should be users with the ability to block users/IPs, protect articles, and delete articles. They are expected to consider policy and guidelines when carrying out an administrative action. However, their actions are not bound by said policy or guideline. Sysops are chosen by the community, and so trusted to use their own discretion. Their actions are held accountable by the Bureaucrats, and in a smaller way, the commuity, by appealing to the bureaucrats for reconfirmation. However, the decision of whether or not action should be taken against sysops ultimately lies with the bureaucrats., as outlined in the next section. Sysops are expected to have a means of private communication, such as email, shown clearly on their user page.

Sysops are chosen by users and bureaucrats. A Request for Adminship can be created by any user, for any user in good standing. Bureaucrats have the ultimate choice of whether or not to promote the user to sysop. The rank of sysop lasts indefinately, but ends if the sysop resigns or Bureaucrat intervention is carried out.

Sysops are not allowed to vote in the bureaucrat elections, this is left to users only.

"Powers" of sysops[edit]

  • Deletion/restoration of articles. A reason for the deletion should be given. If an article requires speedy deletion, a reason should be taken from the speedy deletion criteria.
  • Blocking of users and IPs. This should only be done to stop harm coming to the wiki, and it should be a last resort. The time a user or IP is blocked for should generally increase with every subsequest block.
  • Protection of articles. Should be used to prevent harm, such as vandalism, coming to them.
  • The use of discretion. As noted above, sysops are allowed to carry out their abilities without fear of attack or reprisal from Users in order to keep the wiki running without trouble. Users are expected to comprehend sysops' decisions, and bureaucrats are expected to monitor the use of sysop abilities.

Bureaucrats[edit]

Bureaucrats are of the highest rank of administrators. They are chosen by the community for a year's term. There should be 5 bureaucrats at any given time, and they form an arbritation committee (ArbComm). Bureaucrats are expected to monitor sysops and how they use their abilities. As such, bureaucrats have the ability to promote and demote a sysop. Bureaucrats promote users to sysops after an RFA is deemed successful by the community, however they ultimately hold the decision. Bureaucrats reserve the right to promote a user to the rank of sysop and vice versa temporarily without the approval of community consensus at times when such action is necessary for the good of the wiki.

Elections[edit]

Pretty much GWW:ELECTION, but yearly. Sysops cannot vote, only users.

More to come later.
