Drop rate of crates[edit]

Outside the gem shop, how often have people been seeing these drop? I saw one in the first hour and none since. Be useful to include in the article if we can estimate that it's as unusual as exotics, rare as rares, or more common. Might also be worth including a drop rate table for the contents, since it appears to drop most items one at a time. 75.36.182.167 18:36, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

Looted my first today from a Karka with 200% MF buff. --Landon144 (talk) 21:26, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
I've managed to find 4 so far after a very long time farming with around 250% MF. The drop rate seems to be so low that it isn't practical to try to estimate it. Akaji (talk) 18:55, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
I farmed Skelks for 2 hours with ~300% MF and looted 3 so far. --Dreanor (talk) 07:14, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
Looted a crate while just casually running around Southsun killing stuff and doing events with 209% MF. Was lucky enough to get a Shark's Tooth Sword Skin from it as well :D 82.74.244.51 01:15, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
Had 5 drops the first day I was on the island (that was the 17th, did all the achievements for the two titles and haven't been there ever since) without any magic find at all. Of course the contents... yeah well nothing useful. So I'm almost sure luck has a bigger effect than MF :P (Though I wasn't lucky enough to get a mini that I could have sold for a juicy amount of money.) Howellq (talk) 08:56, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

Drop rate of contents[edit]

Opened 60 Southsun Supply Crates ($90 worth/ 234 gold worth at the time), no weapon tickets... 1 mini Faren, 2 mini Kasmeers, rest were cheap garbage... The odds of getting anything worthwhile in these RNG gambles are horrendous and ANet knows it... And I think everyone else deserves to know it too before they consider buying these things. I hope ArenaNet is happy making their paying customers unhappy.72.235.140.136 06:16, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

If you don't like the RANDOM chance of getting things, don't spend your money on it.

25 crates:

  • crafting materials
  • 1 shoulder skin

I have been purchasing volumes of chests each time they promote weapon skins by chest. I didnt keep very good track during Halloween last year but a rough estimate was 250 BL Chests yielded 6 special skins.

During Frost and Fire, my son and I did not see a special weapon skin ticket until after spending around $250 on cash on keys in total.

Presently on South Sun Crates. I did not see a Sclerite weapon skin ticket until around $250 spent. I am around $350 spent and only 2 skins at this moment. I think these rates are beyond "gouging" and the average consumer may not have any hope. GoldenGoose (talk) 22:05, 19 May 2013 (UTC)

I don't think an average consumer would spend thousands of dollars on a single computer game. Buying more and more and more doesn't increase your chances per crate at all. Mediggo (talk) 07:38, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
Well I know people ingame who had one, two and three skins from crates looted only. So you are just unlucky. Like me. The difference is that I don't want these skins at all and even if I wanted wouldn't spend a penny on them. Howellq (talk) 08:59, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

On the other hand, I would LOVE to get a set of Sclerite weapons for one of my characters, but that would mean getting 6 tickets. I am never going to get 6 tickets, and as such I can't use these weapons that I would love to use. 142.167.199.226 05:36, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Opened 15 of these so far. Only got crafting materials. Dang these are freaking brutal with the drop rates. 142.167.199.226 22:40, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

RNG is RNG. It took me like two days of living in Southsun to get one chest to drop in the first place, but this one chest had a weapon ticket in it. (Edit add:) Any chest drop research going on? Xapheus (talk) 14:33, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

No it isn't! Different drop rates determine that. Drop rates that are controlled by either Arenanet or NCSoft. They could make a ticket drop out of every one. They could 10 items drops out of everyone. It is completely their choice and everyone knows this. So if people feel abused by the drop rates they are completely justified. Hopefully they don't alienate all their paying customers before they realize the negative affect their drop rates are having. I would also have liked to have some of these weapons skins but realized this was going to be impossible. I don't know how much longer I can put time into a game that I cant have anything I want in.Cinnamongod (talk) 03:15, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

I laugh at the critics of people complaining about drop rates. They clearly arn't alienating anyone looking at the amount of money you have spent already. If this was true you would have stop buying gems after 20$. So if you are stillbuying gems then they are playing you. And i found one on the first day and got a ticket. No cash spent. mnabs 7/12

Random Drops[edit]

Considering the event is over (for now), do these still drop from enemies or have they removed the drops as well? » Keneth O'Connor, 15:06, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

I know people got them after the event officially ended. I don't know if they are still dropping, as I haven't been there is a week or so. The drop rate is really low, so it's hard for any single individual to be sure. 75.36.176.20 16:58, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
