Tested this thing after the terrible Oct. 1 patch that changed all vendor gathering tools to money. It can successfully mine everything up to and including Rich Orichalcum Veins. I think it actually has a higher chance to produce rare materials and double ore, because I saw significantly more of those than usual. Of course it's bloody expensive and takes up a ton of inventory space (25 uses, 602 karma each) but it sure beats wasting 4 silver a piece for orichalcum picks! --Foebane 05:44, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
