When to use Eye Lens[edit]

When I edited the Acquisition section I said to use the Lens first so you have the buff, then move around on the platform to find the correct spot. This is how I got it, and how I did every other one (for the Light of the Vine Wrath I actually used the Lens as the carrier was making it's final approach, then simply stood in the middle of the path and waited for the light to strike me).

Then someone who wasn't signed in edited the article to say you have to use the Lens whilst standing in the correct spot because even with the buff on it won't trigger otherwise. Unfortunately I've now completed the collection (and don't have a 2nd account with HoT) and didn't think to video the process so I can't double check, but if anyone can provide a 3rd opinion to clarify how it works I'd appreciate it as I know a lot of people struggle with this collection and this point in particular. If you use the lens without a crystal, you get the necessary buff but it still won't work. I used the lens (and crystal) while standing in the correct spot and got it immediately. However, I noticed that the issue is there are multiple ledges here. You have to be at the pools at the HIGHEST ledge, or you won't be able to find the correct spot. (Sorry for the late response.) My confusion is mainly to do with this step in the instructions: "Double click the Jade Maw's Eye Lens while in the hole with the ley lines rising from it. Even with the jade lens buff on, which lasts for 15 minutes, it won't add to your collection by just crossing the correct point." That makes it sound like if you have a quartz crystal in your inventory, double click the Lens and then move onto the ledge and look for the correct spot it won't work - you have to get into the correct spot and then click the Lens. The problem with this is I did it the first way - I got to the ledge, activated the lens to get the buff and then walked around semi-randomly on the ledge until the notification popped up that I had completed that part of the collection. Which I found much easier and less frustrating than trying to guess at the right spot and then click the Lens when I thought I had it. I don't want us to be telling people to do it in a more complicated way unless it's necessary, but I don't want to edit the article purely based on my own experience in case that was somehow a fluke (or a bug) and what I did will never work for anyone else. Hi, I just wanted to update this. I just did the collection. you can stand anywhere. when I was walking up the tunnel I already had the lens buff and walked to the leyline jumping around like an idot bc of the words "The precise location [...]'pools' of ley energy below them. Stand near the larger ley line. You may need to run around to find the correct spot but do not need to leave the ledge." this is false. you can stand anywhere but have to reactive the lens. I have a video for this collection. https://www.youtube.com/edit?video_referrer=watch&video_id=MuZjipxBrKk vs a bloopers version of me trying to figure where to stand before reading more careful the two different bullets from the wiki https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=bWjbhvVXvqk this is my first time using the edit so hopeful this works 72.47.15.178 08:02, 6 September 2017 (UTC)
