No money[edit]

What if you are defeated and have no money with you? do you have to wait untill an ally revives you? that could be a long wait... - Michiel412 09:40, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

"Such fee is in place in order to avoid allowing characters to use death as a way of teleporting for free and is waived if the player has no money either in inventory or storage." - Infinite - talk 09:59, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

This can be abused still by no one ever carrying money (i.e. storing it all the time) on them ever. Yet they'd have to forgo looting money from defeated foes as well to exploit this. I still can't see if its even feasible to exploit even though it can be exploited. Nobody's perfect and not even GW2.Yumiko ^,~ 01:45, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
To exploit this a person would never pick up money from the ground and rely solely on sales of items. Sounds pretty darn wasteful to me. Plus if you watch any videos where this happens, you can see that the cost is minimal. Also unless I'm mistaken, isn't money shared upon pickup? Kind of hard to carry no money if someone near you picks some up. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 02:51, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
Please read what Infinite said closely, Yumiko: "Such fee is in place in order to avoid allowing characters to use death as a way of teleporting for free and is waived if the player has no money either in inventory or storage." If the player has money in storage, the money in storage will be used to revive the character. -- Frozzen 05:36, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
You know, I can bring this one step further... involving storage and multiple accounts, but that will be just trolling and also talking of sheer insanity on a player's part...Yumiko ^,~ 20:30, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
Of course that would be trolling. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 22:23, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
I can't help but comment that the price to be taken to a rez shrine reminds me of the ancient Greek funeral practice involving leaving coins with the deceased to "Pay the ferryman."98.169.44.231 05:44, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
2 more pieces of info. 1) You will not lose money on other characters (so you don't need 2 accounts to "avoid" it... as if there should be anything to avoid). 2) Only the cost of the nearest waypoint is reduced if you have insufficient funds (It will likely take you less time to walk than shuffle money around). So this isn't a practical solution to cheap travel, but at the same time, you will never be screwed if it happens. Repair costs may be another issue however. --Mooseyfate 20:20, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Does Damaged armor become Soulbound until it is repaired?[edit]

Does Damaged armor become Soulbound (either equipped or in inventory) until it is repaired? Rudhraighe 16:07, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Means of death?[edit]

Does the manner in which you die make any difference whether your items are damaged, IE if you die by falling vs being killed by enemies?Naomi Anara 23:58, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

You don't get armor damage if your death is entirely by falling. I can confirm this since it happens to me a lot. (I hate Vistas.)
What I am not sure about is what happens if you were in combat and then took fall damage. Sometimes it has seemed to me that I did take armor damage, and other times I didn't. But in the middle of combat I'm usually too busy fighting or trying to run away to pay attention to things like armor damage. It might be that the proportion of damage received matters - if I took 90% damage from a foe and then jumped off a cliff, maybe I'd get armor damage; if I got hit for 1 damage and then jumped off a cliff, maybe I'd get no armor damage. I'm just not sure.
In the case that being defeated by falling damage as the final blow always negates armor damage, it might be a good idea to advise other players to jump off cliffs when they're about to die and have no chance of being revived anyway. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 20:33, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
Yes. The enemy will get experience and credit since they damaged you, but they won't be credited as he ons who dealt 'the final blow'. Fall damage directly defeats you instead sending you to downed state, so they can't finish you. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 21:18, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

So when does one die?[edit]

In terms of gaining experience since death.. does one "die" when one goes down or is defeated?192.168.104.82 01:47, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

Sigils that stacks effect count going down, but the monthly achievement counted defeat. I can't tell you about the all-time survival since it's bugged for me. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 21:19, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

PvP?[edit]

So does PvP break armor? 76.253.0.17 06:00, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

WvW does, sPvP does not (if it did you could re-create new armor for free, which would be a pointless hassle). --Mooseyfate 20:24, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Defeated with 0 in /deaths command[edit]

Happens to me, seems because i log out to character select while downed. [1] - pic. Maybe it should be added to page?
