Talk:Councilor Vark

This page shouldn't exist, the wiki is based on FACTS, and nothing point that this Vark is a real character, in addition, no dialogues point how he joined the council. I bet more for name mistake than actual character, should have waited at least next episode before starting this page. He even has an orthographic mistake in councillor, so again, to me theory of rushed content, and not checking names of already existing councillor, plus, same voice as councillor yahk. You find it serious to start an article by "somehow he joined the council during icebrood saga? " me not --78.237.158.191 09:12, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, wiki is based on facts. This npc appeared in the first story of the latest chapter, there is no reason to wait for next release when he is already ingame.Several named npcs shared voice actors. Yes, we do not know how he joined the council, so that's why the sentence is simply saying that he joined them at some point. Albeit not used in GW2, "councilor" is a valid spelling variant. Also, we are not the ones who created the npc in game, so the point of "rushed content" is not valid. ~Sime 09:43, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
- I'd agree with Sime; this new character appears in the story as an actual NPC so we need to list him in the way the game has presented him. While it's curious that Vark's title is spelled as "councilor" with one l (just like the Amnoon councilors are) as opposed to the more UK style "councillor" like the rest of the Arcane Council members with such titles are, he is nevertheless presented being Zudo's equal in authority in "Primordus Rising" with the way he addresses the Commander. It's unknown why the writers decided to add a new councillor with a specific model when they could've used perfectly fitting, already existing but mostly unused minor councillors like Professor Canni (who otherwise only plays a very minor part as a home instance character based on an asuran player's biography choice) or even Doctor Bleent for the role. It's similarly curious why Vark's name eerily resembles the treacherous krewe leader Varkk who had ambitions to become a councillor before we were given a choice to either dispose of him or save our friend in one of the asuran story branches. Perhaps Councilor Vark will end up playing some specific role later in the saga, so the writers prefer to enter a new character rather than repurposing already existing councillors for that story role? I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens with him. :)
- The reason I initially left Vark's joining year ambiguous is because the game itself doesn't show every relevant councillor in instances where several councillors converge, so we don't know when he might've actually joined the council (even if we surmise that the recent addition of this new model in game might indicate him being a recent-ish joiner). For example, we've never seen confirmed councillors like Bleent and Canni playing any role in story instances with the rest of the council in personal story or in later living world seasons (like the Rata Novan expedition with the tour of the councillors in Season 3). As of now, we don't know if Vark was already a councillor during personal story in 1325 AE and if he was simply absent from story instances until now like Bleent and Canni were (similar to how Councillor Yahk was suspiciously absent in "Primordus Rising"). Until we see more of Vark in the stories to come or get answers from the Narrative Team regarding his backstory, we can only rely on what limited information has been presented about him in game so far. --Kossage (talk) 23:17, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
