Rejected policy proposal

This page is a suspended policy proposal. It has been superseded by a list of common wiki practices.

The Guild Wars 2 Wiki has no policies. All former proposals are kept for historical preservation.

Policies are rules of the Guild Wars 2 wiki derived from community consensus. They can regulate both content and user conduct.

Creating, revising and repealing policies[edit]

Policy cannot be arbitrarily altered. Policy changes must be proposed, discussed and reach consensus before they are implemented.

Policy changes are proposed by adding a link to the proposal in the current proposals section of [[Guild Wars Wiki:Policy/proposals]]. For proposed new policies and major policy revisions, the proposal draft must be on a separate page, which must be tagged them with {{proposed policy}}. Proposals for minor policy revisions may be detailed in unambiguous terms on the talk page of the current policy, in which case the relevant section of the talk page must be tagged with {{proposed policy|minor revision}}, or they may be detailed on a separate draft proposal page like major policy revisions. A signature, timestamp and summary are recommended for the "current proposal" entry, but not required. It is also recommended that proposals are not made until the draft has been discussed, however it is not strictly necessary.

After consensus in favor of a proposal has been reached on the proposal's talk page, the proposal is implemented, and the proposal link is moved from the current policy proposals section to the recently implemented proposals section, and the {{proposed policy}} tag is replaced with a {{policy}} tag.

If there is consensus against a proposal, the proposal fails, the {{proposed policy}} tag is removed and the link is moved to the recently failed proposals sections. Failed proposals may not be re-proposed for a period of two months unless there is consensus in favor of re-proposal.

Proposals may also be retracted with consensus, in which case {{proposed policy}} is removed and the proposal link is moved to the recently retracted proposals section.

Without consensus in favor of implementation, rejection or retraction, a policy proposal may remain a proposal indefinitely.

The recently implemented proposals and recently failed proposals sections may be periodically trimmed, however recently failed proposals must retain all proposals which have failed in the past two months and have not been re-proposed.

Non-policy in policy pages[edit]

Any edits to a policy page which have not gone through the policy amendment proccess do not affect the policy itself, formatting edits, such as the addition of links or changes to bolding and italicization, are acceptable, however edits to actual text are strongly discouraged because they are potentially misleading, and should be reverted. Transcluded content (such as the recently implemented proposals and recently failed proposals sections), notice boxes, see also or related X sections and category tags in a policy page are not considered part of policy unless it is explicitly stated otherwise. Anything else in a policy page is assumed to be part of policy without an explicit statement to the contrary.
