Are they called "professions"? I recall the term used was "disciplines", which would be more likely (so as not to confuse players with professions). pling User Pling sig.png 22:16, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Correct, and we should probably stick with disciplines to avoid confusion with profession = class. Move page! Thering 22:21, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
They were called both in the article. It also gives a stronger focus on the specifics of what you can craft- especially with the depth and size of each of our crafting professions. I thought "professions" would be a better term to use since an artificer isn't really a discipline, but a profession. A cook isn't a discipline, but cooking is. The article is cook, however.-- Shew 22:31, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
Official blog is more about disciplines than professions. The subtitle where the disciplines are explained is 'Disciplines'. My vote is to rename this page to Crafting disciplines too. RpgNick 22:48, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
My point still stands. A cook isn't a discipline, it's a profession. Cooking is the discipline. The same goes for every other profession/discipline. They're all referred to with profession names in the blog. Artificer, weaponsmith, etc.-- Shew 22:50, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
And I realize that right before they're all listed, there's this statement: "In Guild Wars 2, there are eight crafting disciplines players can choose from." But it doesn't sound right to say a weaponsmith is a discipline, in my opinion.-- Shew 22:54, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
I would say move to discipline as well. --'Mai Yi' {TC} 22:57, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
I'm not a fan of the word discipline, but it is good because it doesn't overload the profession term. -- aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 23:18, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
Well, since I'm the only one in disagreement, go ahead and move it.-- Shew 23:23, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
It's not the first time ArenaNet uses confusing and inconsistent terms and phrases and I, too, think that Shew's reasoning is perfectly correct. But if they are officially referred to "crafting disciplines" then I think we should move this there and either hope ArenaNet rectifies it or we just face the fact that a cook is a discipline in their eyes. (As an ex-chef, I feel a bit misunderstood now.) - Infinite - talk 13:24, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Just pointing this article as more official usage of "crafting professions."-- Shew 17:01, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
