Would you mind putting a disclaimer or notice at the top of the page stating that this is from an unofficial and unreliable source? There are some concerns that it might be mistaken for official news since it's on the official wiki. Thanks! 16:10, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

Hey Relyk,

I know that there's no policy against copying the content of a "leak", and this is a userspace so not technically reachable by default, but I do think that sharing these so-called "leaks" is not something that people should do. We don't like leaks because they've got nothing official to them and most of the time confuse players. I'll let you be the judge of these things, since it's not against any policy and this space belongs to you, but I think that promoting solid knowledge over content shared on the Internet by random people should be a global goal.

By the way, I'm only coming here because I want to discuss this with you, and possibly others. I view the wiki as a place of knowledge and a community that has done wonders to spread that knowledge. I also know that you understand these things and maybe you simply wanted to copy this for the sake of documentation. LEt me know what you think.

Primarily, I don't want to link to a third party site for the information. The information can be found on the internet and from players discussing the game, so to talk about (and document) a leak but not provide information is rather futile. "promoting solid knowledge over content shared on the Internet by random people should be a global goal" needs clarity, you would have to promote the contents of the leak instead of just the leak. That implies being in the mainspace to be considered promotion by the wiki. I know that has happened with the drop tables with information simply being there. I don't need a local transcript of the leak immediately and the information can be posted after the official update, but would like the information available somewhere on the wiki as needed.

In this case, there is an official preview of the update. At that point, the leak becomes less of an issue and you can compare it to official information. If there is no official response, an acceptable policy would be to avoid posting information about leaks until the official update. It's ArenaNet's job to "promote solid knowledge over content shared by players" as they players can't promote solid knowledge themselves. As far as simply providing content of leaks, we can talk about it without promoting the material itself even in an official setting, but that's ArenaNet's side and how they handle it.

The one thing I will disagree with is censoring the information, because I then go back to "promote solid knowledge over content shared by players" and promoting solid knowledge isn't the same as removing/omitting content shared by players.--Relyk ~ talk < 18:04, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
