Templates on Equipment acquisition by stats

Just to warn you--on a previous version of that page, I tried replacing all of the attribute icons () with templates ({{Power}}), and the wiki told me there were too many expensive parser calls on the page and it refused to render all of them. I'm not sure exactly what the rules are, but I suspect you might run into a similar problem if you try to replace all the icons in the karma armor table with templates (and even if you don't immediately have a problem, we might eventually need to revert the changes in order to add something else with templates to the page).

I reverted the edit anyway. There's no point to making a template that is used solely on a single page, just to make the wiki-code look simpler. There's also no need to link every image in the table, since the legend above the table already provides the links.

Personally I'd rather we find a different way to present the information in that table, but I don't currently have any ideas for it. —Dr Ishmael 02:58, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Creating a template for something that's used many times makes the code more human-readable, reduces the odds of mistakes while editing, makes it easy to update all instances at once, and reduces the file size. Exactly what advantage do you see when the template is used on multiple pages that doesn't apply to a single page, and what downside outweighs all the aforementioned advantages when used on a single page?

I actually wanted to create templates for a bunch of the stuff on that page myself, but was prevented by a lack of experience (and the aforementioned parser limit). --Felbryn 03:47, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
