Why is this refereed to as the bonus fractal? Is there a specific reason for it? If not, then it should be removed. - Eagleshadow 14:50, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

It is referenced as the bonus fractal because it only appears after each even difficulty ends (2, 4, 6, etc...). At least I've only found it outside the bonus encounters, and all the bonus fractals have been the Jade Maw. Lokheit 19:25, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
Also because after you complete this once a day you get a fractals "bonus", that shares the icon with the daily bonus. 95.180.84.110 01:32, 27 November 2012 (UTC)

What happens if you get wiped by the final attack? Do you have to repeat the entire fight? Dryea 06:05, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

Yes you do User Freshberrysmoothie Blueberry Icon.jpg Fresh Berry Smoothie 06:00, 6 January 2013 (UTC)

Wrong name..?[edit]

Why is this called Solid Ocean instead of Jade Quarry? I know the character states it used to be an ocean or something, but it's very obvious it's a quarry if you even glance at it, and it's all made of jade.. And there's a server name named jade quarry which likely means this is where the name came from..Copain 10:49, 23 February 2013 (UTC)

Because if you open the map you will see, that that location is called Solid Ocean. And also, in the achievements it is called Solid Ocean Fractal. Malgalad 14:40, 23 February 2013 (UTC)

Its also a reference to a location in the previous game. In Cantha theres an area called the jade sea, it used to be a normal sea until Shiro Tagachi's death cry change the sea into jade and the forest to stone. thereby making a 'solid ocean' made out of jade. the reason for 'jade quarry' is because a instance in the sea was called the jade quarry. all world names are locations in the previous game such as kaineng. Organization[edit]

This specific page has confusing and disorganized tips for new players of this fractal dungeon; I'm not experienced enough myself at the time of writing this comment to organize it. Some phase-1 tips and even tips from before that seem to cover things that will happen much later on, and mentions of the adds on the way to the boss in phase 1 of the boss? Things like that. Someone who knows the fight by heart should take a look at the phases and their tips, and make them clearer and easier to understand for beginners. --Wisdawn (talk) 07:14, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

Incorrect statement[edit]

In the Mechanics section, it says "Being hit by a beam without a Reflecting Crystal will instantly down the player." However, this is not true. It always takes two unprotected hits to down my character. Being a necromancer/reaper, that just puts me into shroud. So, it actually takes three unprotected hits to down me. And, if I get the chance to heal myself twice between hits, it takes yet another hit.

I suspect it should say it instantly downs people running glass builds.

Does anybody dispute that? Daddicus (talk) 15:34, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

If your character survives more than one hit, then it survives. Hard to dispute that ;). Feel free to change it to "likely down the player" or another phrase which is more accurate. G R E E N E R 15:53, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
If the statement does get changed, it should list the %health damage taken or total damage taken. I don't think you are lying, but I've never seen it not down someone who wasn't in shroud. So you must need quite a hefty amount of health to tank it... -Darqam 16:24, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, 30k. However, I have to point out that it's inconsistent. MOST of the time it won't down me (or send me into shroud, which I count as downed, for this purpose), but occasionally it does. I haven't figured out what the difference is. Daddicus (talk) 20:50, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
Ok so... 'most of the time' isn't really accurate in the way you've formulated it. Either the attack has a critical hit chance and it does more damage with that hit than usual, or it does consistent damage and sometimes you have enough health to absorb it. A consistent boss attack cannot "sometimes" down you. Either it chunks 30k health (and thus if you have less you go down) or it chunks X amount of other health + a possible Y amount for crit. GW2 damage is not a 'random' thing. I'll take a look when I have the chance, but until then I'm probably going to alter the change since "most of the time" is probably even more confusing than saying it straight up downs you, however the change I have in mind is not ideal either. I'd be grateful if someone could come in after with more details and edit over it again. -Darqam 21:16, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
Keep in mind that protection might influence that. I always thought it downed anyone, regardless of their health. —Ventriloquist 13:55, 25 March 2017 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I think it's a massive amount of health, I've never seen someone tank it without shroud tbh. But since you can go shroud and still live, it might be possible to survive the attack with prot+damage mitigation+high health pool. Would take a lot to survive though if that's possible. -Darqam 17:18, 25 March 2017 (UTC)

I think the best possibility is that I've already taken damage. When I do survive it, I usually have less than 20% health left. Not a sliver, but not very high, either. A critical hit would also explain it, but it must have a fairly small critical chance.
Another possibility is minion toughness. I typically have 4 minions out, plus however many came as a result of the minion shout. But, they die for a few seconds every time, while the skill is recharging. Next time I'm in there, I'll see if that's it.
I'm fine with how you worded it. Daddicus (talk) 17:23, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
