Precursor drop[edit]

Apparently these can drop precursors as well. -- Kazerniel (talk) 13:20, 25 September 2017 (UTC)

Anything that drops any type of equipment can also drop precursors. —Ventriloquist 13:23, 25 September 2017 (UTC)

Notes - "Identify gear"[edit]

The current note about identification currently leads to the historical page, implying that tge item can perform a removed action. Should we begin a drops list in-page and rewrite the note as trivia about the former identification process? Azure Fang (talk) 13:32, 29 September 2017 (UTC)

Anecdotal research[edit]

  • 250 used @ +316% MF: 11 rare armor pieces, 24 rare weapons (of which 16 were Elonian skins), 1 rare trinket, 1 exotic armor piece.

Comparing this with the common version, it has about 3x the chance of a rare or better weapon. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 23:34, 9 October 2017 (UTC)

  • 20 used @ 300% MF: 16 masterwork, 4 rares, with 3 of those being elonian weapons.--Rain Spell (talk) 01:53, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

How to identify?[edit]

Where are instructions to identify these?69.181.57.191 05:21, 14 March 2018 (UTC)

It says it right in the description of the item. Double click it (or right-click and select Use All, since it's way faster) --Gimmethegepgun (talk) 05:58, 14 March 2018 (UTC)

Magic Find & Results[edit]

There is an analysis of Unidentified gear (at all 3 levels), at each level of magic find, across 27,000 pieces of each gear level. Should we add this to the page? or is this kind of information far too niche to merit being added to page proper? Kenji_03 04:13, 14 December 2019 (UTC)

How to Maximize Profit ?[edit]

Magic Find no longer affects the results of opening a piece of unidentified gear. So you can:

Sell while unidentified -> Coins
Salvage unidentified & Sell -> Materials -> Coins & Luck
Identify and Salvage -> Gear & Coins -> Materials -> Coins & Luck
Identify and Sell -> Coins

On the average, for each of the 3 rarities of Unidentified Gear, which of the above actions will result in the most profit ? Separ (talk) 22:55, 27 June 2020 (UTC)

There's probably extensive study about this but at least from fast farming EU the consensus is to open all tiers of unids and salvage unless the rare is worth something on the trading post. (They list Rare axes, daggers, greatswords, staves, swords). My way of dealing with it is to sell all the 15 silver+ rares after unid-ed, I rarely salvage anything that's a rare unless it can yield a charm of brilliance (for building a larger stockpile of Scholar runes). If you really want to optimize it you probably would also merchant anything that yields silk/gossamer as those materials are generally at very low price. --Life Infusion «T» 23:02, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
