It seems that as of late the rate of conversion has been increasing. I have been testing and tracking the data and will make the spreadsheet available through google docs soon.

Edited: I corrected my numbers, i was originally listing how many rares i have used / how many exotics gained. it is now corrected to show how many rares/exotics i have received.

thats pretty compelling data for a 3:1 (2.98:1) ratio of rare:exotics from the mystic forge isn't it.

I've just analysed the Mystic Forge/Research page for similar data, and here are my findings:

• Input: 34 sets of 4x CMinor Runes.
  • Output: 25 DMinor Runes and 9 EMajor Runes. (Ratio of 2.78:1)
• Input: 12 sets of 4x DMajor Runes.
  • Output: 9 EMajor Runes and 3 FSuperior Runes (Ratio of 3:1)

• Input: 37 sets of 4x DMinor Sigils.
  • Output: 29 DMinor Sigils and 8 EMajor Sigils. (Ratio of 3.63:1)
• Input: 28 sets of 4x EMajor Sigils.
  • Output: 22 EMajor Sigils and 6 FSuperior Runes (Ratio of 3.67:1)

Examining combined sigil and rune data on the /Research page:

• Input: 71 sets of 4x Minor items.
  • Output: 54 Minor items and 17 Major items. (3.12:1, or 23.9% promotion)
• Input: 40 sets of 4x Major items.
  • Output: 31 Major items and 9 Superior items. (3.44:1, or 22.5% promotion)

I appreciate that people are more likely to report their results if they get a rarity promotion, but now I'm wondering where we got the 20% number on Mystic Forge#Equipment. -Chieftain Alex 20:40, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

I will blow some money on a bunch of minor sigils and test it out after armor/skin stuff, and after I hit up the last few karma merchants in orr. Turns out it was 1000 trails, with 4000 total nuggets as input (t2 gemstone)
