Guild Representation[edit]

So, lets say I'm the founder of a guild, then get invited to another guild. As a member of 2 guilds, can I represent the guild that wasn't founded by me? --Stateless (talk) 04:41, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

You can represent any guild you are a member of, regardless of who founded it. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 04:43, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
^^ True. You can join up to 5 Guilds including up to 5 that you founded. You can "Stand down", representing none of them too. However, you cannot represent more then one at a time. ~ 1Maven (talk) 08:18, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

Leave Guild -> Delete[edit]

If you're the only one in a guild (leader), and you click Leave Guild, is it instantly deleted or do you get a prompt to confirm it? User Karuro Sig.png Karuro 21:47, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Although I have not tried this myself, I believe you are prompted with something like "Are you sure?" before leaving the guild, just as if you were not the last member. However, if you reply yes to this prompt and you are the last member then the guild is instantly deleted and unrecoverable, including all upgrades and anything in the vault. ~ 1Maven (talk) 08:08, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

Roster size info incorrect[edit]

Hey all, I just wanted to say that the current information on purchasing roster size upgrades is incorrect -- my guild's currently at 39 members, but I'm still not allowed to purchase the next roster size upgrade. According to the info listed here, I should have been able to upgrade the size back at 25 members, yet the registrar still says my guild's too small. I'll update this with more info as I gain more members. --Meowtock (talk) 20:39, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Follow-up: Membership reached 45 earlier, still can't purchase the larger license, so the updated info on the page is still incorrect. I guess you need to actually be at the limit to upgrade? --Meowtock (talk) 09:11, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
I was just able to upgrade over the 50 user license with 41 members
I was able to upgrade over the 100 member limit with 80 members. I think it's 80% ~~Sorry, too lazy to be a user.~~Poetics (2015-12-31)
I was able to upgrade at 40/50 members, but not at 39/50. So it is 80%. DeltaxHunter (talk) 20:55, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

New Guild Format/Favor/Influence[edit]

With the update to guilds by Heart of Thorns, parts of this page are no longer valid or outdated. Syunfung (talk) 02:12, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

Yup, it has already been tagged as out-of-date, now a matter of players tearing themselves away from the game to come and update the article. :) Over time, all the new information will trickle in. --Wolfie User Wolfie sig.jpg (talk|contribs) 22:14, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

Guild Member License Upgrade[edit]

I do not have the correct number but I am sitting at 252 in my guild and I can buy the next upgrade. It is not 90% for sure though since that puts us at 84% capacity The preceding unsigned comment was added by Richard Tavadon (talk) at 02:25, 22 December 2015 (UTC).

Feedback 2015/12/28[edit]

Guild level info is wrong. 40 does not seem to be the max, just the highest req for any current upgrade. You keep getting GXP and levels past 40, don't know the real max (Reddit says 64) The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.136.12.139 (talk) at 20:28, 28 December 2015‎ (UTC).

Feedback 2016/05/31[edit]

Guild names can be changed by sending a request to the CS Team. Here's the link to the Dev post stating such: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/46338k/wheres_the_guild_name_change_contract/ --Inculpatus cedo (talk) 12:07, 31 May 2016 (UTC)

Guild leader not logging in[edit]

Support has told me to wait for 6 months before they can help demote the acc of an inactive guild leader. DBZVelena | (Talk page) User DBZVelena sig.jpg 18:33, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

About a reverted change[edit]

Recently an anonymous user changed a sentence about an historic fact, as seen here but then the change was reverted with the reason "not a verb in this case". I would agree with the change though but I'm not a native english speaker so I might be missing something here. Could someone tell how that "is not a verb"? From my english knowledge I can't translate that without taking that as a verb. --Txonä Atan - (talk) 01:44, 26 August 2021 (UTC)

This would be an example of the usage but "It used to cost 1 silver" is the proper way to do it and how we have it (in slightly different wording). Dak393 (talk) 02:10, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
Ok, I understand it, thanks for the link. In fact, "It used to cost" was what came to my mind when I saw the revert. The current way sounds a bit misleading to non-native speakers though. I did some check and that's really a messy sentence O.o. Google Translate makes a real mess translating it (it doesn't give a sense of past at all, even having "before" in it). Deepl does a better job and even translate it properly, giving a sentence properly in the past tense. However, would it be better to use "it used to cost" to be less ambiguous and easier on translators and non-native english speakers? I don't know how to explain it but "it used to cost" feels to give a more straightly idea of past than the way it is now. --Txonä Atan - (talk) 01:54, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
I think it's fine the way it is now but it's unfortunate that translating it turns out odd. "Before 2014, creating a guild cost 1 silver" is still the proper use of past tense "cost". I don't think there is really a better, simple, way of putting it but if you have suggestions I can make sure they work in English. Dak393 (talk) 02:00, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
Actually I don't have suggestions other than that. Based on my english knowledge my instant reaction would be seeing it as a verb and then being like "it should be 'costed'", but as the case here is it's not acting as a verb then "it used to cost" would sound better as I can get a sense of past from that, while I can't get that sense from just "before, it cost" alone (I really can't o.O). Or maybe like "the cost of creating a guild was"/"creating a guild cost was" (this way I can easily see "cost" as an adjective, not sure if it's a correct form though). --Txonä Atan - (talk) 02:15, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
So, it was changed to "it cost 1 silver to create a guild", that didn't change much. It still feels the same, it's still ambiguous and it still feels like 'cost' is acting as a verb to me. Oh well, I'm going to let it be, I'm not an expert neither a native so no much to say and I don't want to extend this subject too much. :S --Txonä Atan - (talk) 23:00, 27 August 2021 (UTC) (P.S. actually I see the trouble now, it's in the fact that in English adjective follows a subject without a preposition, same way as a verb does, something that in my language [per example] would be the other way around and requiring a preposition lol. sighs anyway)
Would any of these translations be easier? It's ok to want sentences that are easier to parse.
-"Before the September 2014 Feature Pack, 1 [Silver] was required to create a guild."
-"Before the September 2014 Feature Pack, players could pay 1 [Silver] to create a guild."
-"Before the September 2014 Feature Pack, the cost was 1 [Silver] to create a guild." --Rain Spell (talk) 15:46, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
Oh, all the 3 works better, they pass the sense of past better. However, the 2nd sounds more like a possibility (like it was player's choice to pay that instead the actual fact they were required to). So, 1st or 3rd sounds better, leaning more toward the 3rd though. Thank you for that btw. --Txonä Atan - (talk) 00:57, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
Edit made. And no problem at all. Good luck, have fun! :) --Rain Spell (talk) 01:25, 29 August 2021 (UTC)

Guild Teams[edit]

I couldn't find any mention/explanation of Guild Teams anywhere. The permission to create them is there (in Member ranks), just not the actual steps to do so or what those teams are used for. There's a relevant News entry, but I'm not sure if we can copy text from there without running into copyright issues. (note: there's also one mention in Guild mission#PvP, that I added) --TotallyUniqueLily (talk) 01:10, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

Since this wiki belongs to ArenaNet, we can easily copy and use their news blogpost and info in it, which we have been doing well, ever since the GW2 release. It does seem like an oversight that we have no complete info about Guild Teams anywhere though, I agree with that. I found a good entry for the guild teams section in one 2015 game update, I think I'll add that for starters. ~Sime 01:19, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

Guild Representation Section Incomplete[edit]

"Representation While guild membership is at the account level, guild representation is at the character level, providing access to the guild bank and any active guild upgrades.

To represent a guild, open the guild panel. On the sidebar, the "Account Guilds" tab list of all guilds your account is a member of. Select one and then click the "Represent" checkbox to the left of the guild name. You must do this individually for each character, since joining a guild does not automatically require you to represent it. Similarly, newly-created characters will not represent a guild until you select one for them.

To end a character's representation of a guild, uncheck the checkbox. The character will still belong to the guild, but not be able to use any of that guild's perks."

This says that if you represent you gain access to "any active guild upgrades" - what are "active guild upgrades"? This also says that if you don't represent you will "not be able to use any of that guild's perks" - what are perks? I run Guild Missions every week with my guild and our leader - who has run Guild Missions for almost as many years as GW2 has been around - tells some guild members that they don't have to rep the guild when doing certain missions but they will still get credit. And they do. So if Guild Missions are not a perk, what is? This section seems very vague.--Justaplayer (talk) 00:44, 29 December 2023 (UTC)

Perks refers to Attributes (box left of message of the day) including things like waypoint cost reduction. DeltaxHunter (talk) 00:48, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
