Salli Lonestead is the son of Bjalfi Lonestead. He laments the loneliness brought upon the homestead due to the rise of dragons.

- When I was little, the other kids and I would play in the hollows. But now, there's no one to play with. Everybody left.
Why did everyone leave?
- My papa won't tell me, but you can ask him. He won't let me play in the woods by myself. He says it's gotten dangerous, but if he's not afraid, neither am I.
- Why is there a dolyak inside your home?
- We let them in sometimes, when they get sick or unhappy. They're really the only family my papa and I have, other than each other. I wish they could talk. Then I'd have someone to talk to.

- Better listen to your papa, kid.
- That's too bad.
