Candidate statement[edit]

I accept Inc's RFA nomination and want to thank you for the trust you put in me.

I'm playing Guild Wars 2 since launch and played the first three years in German. Dipped my feet in the German wiki in 2014 for an editing contest then came back to edit SAB pages in 2016. I join the English wiki on April 2, 2019. Currently I'm watching the recent changes, fixing formatting, adding items introduced with new releases (thank you Darqam for your tools) and try to complete my almost year long achievement project (big thank you to Tolkyria and others that respond to my template edit requests), soonTM all collection items can be checked with your API key (I can take very little credit for that). Over the last week I was reuploading png screenshots which probably promted Inc to nominate me - so that I can delete the png files myself. Besides that I see myself as someone you can depend on. I am an active editor and adminship with the tools and perks it comes with would enable me to carry out my willingness to improve the wiki (bit by bit). There are three areas I feel I should improve in (that I can think of now): Leaving more talk page comments, learn to edit templates and try out to use an editing robot.

Discussion[edit]

  • Explanation of why the candidate should or should not retain rights/be given additional rights.
  • Strong support. I nominated Kvothe because I find him to be a very level-headed, capable, reliable and active editor. His candidate statement reflects that he is aware of some his shortcomings (i.e. the necessity of more elaborate communication) but willing to improve, which is an invaluable character trait to possess. Over the years he has been an editor, Kvothe has shown that — similar to many of us here — he wants the best for the wiki. He thus continues relentlessly to make it a better place both for editors and users alike. Kvothe treats other users with respect as well as courtesy and conducts himself well, which proves to me that he is very capable of working with the community and our readers in a polite and professional manner. Aside from this, another reason for nominating Kvothe is the fact that we currently have only two active admins covering the EU timezone. Having a third admin in this timezone is only beneficial to the wiki since we can distribute the workload a lot more evenly, particularly since we all have very time-demanding jobs. In closing, I envision Kvothe in the role as formatting/patrolling sysop, where he has been showing a lot of promise in the past months. With him on the admin team, I am certain that we can serve the community as a whole much better. Once again, a resounding yes from me. Thank you. • A yes from me. Even though I'm not on the wiki for nearly as long as most of the others, I still think Kvothe is one of the most active non-admin members here. I also think there are several points which make him a really great pick: 1) He's experienced in all sides of editing, I've seen him edit stuff all over the wiki, from images to templates. 2) He seems to be doing really well mental health regarding, which, in my opinion, is a big plus for an admin candidate. • Yes from me. He's courteous and active in Discord, as well as being active on the wiki. As an active member in the wiki-editing-help channel, he can see what the rest of us are thinking before we implement, and help shape the way discussions are going. Ongoing activity in that help channel demonstrates a positive commitment to helping others in their work, as well as the work he is doing himself. --Hesione (talk) 20:00, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Support. I've had my eye on Kvothe (in a flattering, not-at-all-creepy way) since this summer when we talked about expanding the admin team. He's active on the wiki, active on the Discord, and a positive influence on both. I have no concerns about giving him sysop tools. - Felix Omni 20:59, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Yes. I am an American, with the "usual" myopic view of the rest of the world. Having admitted that, the WIKI is NOT a "national" treasure, but a world-wide one. As such, international viewpoints, views, and SYSOPS are needed to for balance, IF FOR NOTHING ELSE!!! As players, and users, we NEED to have the additional viewpoints available to keep this game viable for EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE. Undouble (talk) 22:13, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Support. As Kvothe mentioned in his candidate statement, I had the pleasure to edit with him, which basically means that I'm doing some quick template stuff and he is doing all the resulting adjustments on hundreds of mainspace pages. Kvothe is an incredible efficient and dedicated wiki editor, whether it's adding in-game information, page formatting or wiki maintainance, each of his edits is improving the wiki and making the wiki more consistent. He has insight how we handle this wiki, from wording over template usage to formatting guidelines, and granting him further rights can only be positive for the wiki. --Tolkyria (talk) 22:33, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Neutral. My limited interactions with this user make me think that they would have a difficult time separating their personal feelings from the responsibilities of the role of sysop. horrible | contribs 23:20, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Support. He's been very amiable towards me and others that I've seen on Discord and the Wiki. I think he'd be a good addition, and use these tools to the betterment of the GW2 Wiki and community as a whole. While I don't edit every day (or even every month sometimes), I do check recent changes almost daily, and his name is always there. All that being said... I do acknowledge that I have limited interaction with Kvothe, along with most of the big and constant names here. My edits are the kind that don't ruffle any feathers or change something drastically, I don't know how to make templates and code, therefore nothing I do on the Wiki merits discussion or debate or getting to know others very well. • Support , Kvothe contributes quite a bit. --Life Infusion «T» 18:24, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Support. Kvothe's contributions over the past year are extremely helpful to the wiki and with new tools, we can see even more from Kvothe. I have not interacted with Kvothe but his interactions with the wiki and discord shows great sense of community. Light (talk) 19:13, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Support. I have had well over one hundred positive interactions with Kvothe via the On Wiki of Gold project. He has gone above and beyond many times, and the wiki has benefited from it. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 14:12, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Support. I don't know any reason to say no. Good, helpful editor, can't say anything negative, so I'm game. - Doodleplex 00:34, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
