Looks like a necromancer IMO. EiveTalk 23:31, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

The heavy armor and sword just scream necro. CelleyBear 00:10, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
lol, I was thinking the same thing Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 00:22, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
Blue color... Probably the third adventurer though. -- Konig/talk 00:26, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
It doesnt scream blue to me. I'm guessing this isnt any new profession at all. --AdventurerPotatoe User A F K When Needed Potato icon.jpg - 01:16, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
Perhaps some sort of dualist Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 02:29, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
Seeing as the pic is right next to the big mace warrior picture (as far as i can see), there is the possibility of this just being a picture of an Asuran warrior. But the possibility of it being the second adventurer or maybe even soldier is also likely. Zungx 15:56, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
I think it looks more like light armor (maybe medium armor) than heavy armor... And the sword could easily be available for a caster. People already assume the Mesmer can use a sword, so I don't see why the Necro would be exempt from this. EiveTalk 19:52, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
I hope the necro cannot use swords. There are already too many people theorized to use them. I hope that necro's can use daggers instead and not swords. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 20:11, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
I hope that they can. After warriors, I would only think that mesmers and necromancers (and if the second soldier is a paladin-like character, then swords will be the main weapon). That's only half of the professions, which may be quite a bit, but I would expect swords to be used by many people. Necromancers are likely to use swords because they can be used for sacrifice (just like daggers, which are short swords), they have a history of being used for execution, are used in some forms of torture, and there have been many notable "cursed" swords in history and popular culture. Makes sense that necromancers would use them, imo. Did I mention that swords are the weapon? -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted guided sig.png (τѧιк) 03:18, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Necro??[edit]

There are skulls on the right. It shouts Necro! -- Itay AlonTalk 18:25, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Good eye. Now it seems clear that this is a Necro. The choice of color is unusual but wathever. The question now is this a scholar or and adventurer?--I AmLegion talk 20:02, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
Seems like those correspond to the warrior thing on the right. This is a fade between two images, after all. --Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig.png (Talk) 20:11, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
I doubt it. Mostly because we have the warrior pic here and there are no skulls. It looks like he's actually casting a Blood is Power spell, the particules could be actually blood. Also he wears scholar clothes. --I AmLegion talk 20:23, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
They don't look like skulls to me. The armor could be either scholar or adventurer though imo. And the color in this image (on the right) and the warrior one look similar to me. (Could be the color-blindness though.) --Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig.png (Talk) 20:30, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
I don't see any skulls, but the colors are definably different. At first I thought a dark-blue, but now I'm thinking the color shade was meant to be gray - strange choice but makes some sense, I guess. Necro is sounding more and more likely. -- Konig/talk 20:37, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
I can only see one skull near the top right corner, it's a dark outline in the yellow. - Giant Nuker 21:07, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/2676/asurannecromancer.jpg here we go. --I AmLegion talk 21:09, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
Not gonna lie, that's a pretty convincing pic but were gonna have to wait until they officially tell us.--Emmisary 22:04, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
We already have concept art that belongs to the warrior, the ranger and the elementalist; plus concept art that probably belongs to the mesmer, the assassin-like profession and the second soldier profession (knight?). Therefore, the only professions likely to be left are the necromancer and the second adventurer (enginer/gunner?).
The asura doesn't look like someone wearing caster clothes, and the sword on its hands makes it look like more some kind of warrior than a caster. In other hand, it does look like there's a skull at the upper corner of the image, and the asura may be casting a spell with its left hand. Plus, so far all pieces of concept art are at least similar to their respective shadow - both the warrior concept art and the warrior shadow show a very large male human/norn in armor, both the elementalist concept art and the elementalist shadow show a woman wearing more or less the same clothes, and so on. The necromancer shadow, which shows an asura, is likely this one; it doesn't really look like the asura in this concept art, but at least it's the same race.
I have a strong feeling the picture is incomplete, though. Just like the ranger concept art we had before did not show the pet, I have the strong feeling that whatever is to the left of the asura is not being fully shown. Erasculio 23:58, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
The blood splattering and the skull are pretty convincing.--Emmisary 00:14, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
About the black color, it's just a character. Background [color] simply missing. -- Itay AlonTalk 14:27, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Moreover, look at this: [1]. -- Itay AlonTalk 14:35, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Im just gunna post this ([[2]]) as to why I find the skull arguement invalid. The same principle can apply to the "spatter" on the left. That leaves an asuran witha sword. That doesn't sound like a necro to me. Not to say there wont be a necromancer (as there will very likely be), just that this probably isnt a necro. The art style also more closely resembles those wallpapers of the races on pure white backgrounds. Death By An Arrow 18:56, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
No that just proves that the dude has some pretty messed up eyes.--Emmisary 23:47, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
Lol--Icyyy Blue User IcyyyBlue Elementalist Blue.png 06:08, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
Well, I was right and just as I expected, it was an unfinished piece of conceptart. Eeee hee heee --I AmLegion talk 06:31, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Matching?[edit]

Has anyone tried matching this to a sillouet? Also: It's black-coloured like http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:GDC_2010_daggerbattlestance.png Zolann The IrreverentUser Zolann The Irreverent Mysterious Summoning Stone.png 21:54, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

The other pieces like this are not matched to the silhouettes. Also, the assassin-like one is far darker. This one is closer to a gray or silver than anything else. -- Konig/talk 00:15, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Renaming[edit]

The filename is based on speculations and does not descript the image itself, we should name it in a similar style that daggerbattlestance or macewoman was named. I would say Grayasura is a great name. Anyone agreeing with renaming it? --AdventurerPotatoe User A F K When Needed Potato icon.jpg - 00:17, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I think it's a good idea, since this current name is far too generic Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 01:04, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Anyone more, any suggestions or disagreenments? --AdventurerPotatoe User A F K When Needed Potato icon.jpg - 18:37, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Sounds good. -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted guided sig.png (τѧιк) 18:42, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
I dont really know how renaming works and stuff, so can anyone experienced come here and move it? Thanks! --AdventurerPotatoe User A F K When Needed Potato icon.jpg - 18:57, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Done. For future reference the move tab is at the top of the page.--Emmisary 19:04, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Thank you very much Emmisary. --AdventurerPotatoe User A F K When Needed Potato icon.jpg - 19:57, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Adventurer?[edit]

Does anyone else think the Asura's armor looks a lot like this? It's (presumably) the same armor seen in the Ranger video as seen here and again the male here. --Spigs 06:18, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

I must disagree. Could you explain what you see in common? EiveTalk 06:45, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
The shoulders look similar but aside from that I'm not sure I see it either. --Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig.png (Talk) 15:05, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
I see the belt with the design on the side. It's a different design, I believe, but it still looks similar to me. As well as the pants and boots. --Spigs 06:02, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
I'm just not seeing it.... EiveTalk 08:18, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
I think the armor-connection is a stretch, but I agree that this might be an adventurer class representing something ritualist-like. I think necro would have lighter armor, a more green-ish/dark-ish scheme, and he is also holding a sword, which isn't on the list of usable weapons on the necromancer page on this wiki (however, those details havent been confirmed by ANet). Plus... the hand on the ground screams ritualist more than necro to me. I'm very excited for the necro, but I am more excited at the thought of ritualists returning in some sort of new prof. --Rex 02:45, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Indeed the Necro?[edit]

In Character creation, we see that the background image when selecting your profession is the same as the background for their respective concept art. Well.... the concept art for the Necro is this...

So now I'm not sure if this rejects the idea of this being the necro concept art, or perhaps it will undergo some changes before officially being put on the ANet site? --98.23.26.132 23:34, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

I believe that I[edit]

Called it. EiveTalk 22:35, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Indeed, and Cellybear must feel a bit silly now. --Odal talk 10:51, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
I apologize for the sarcasm. You were correct, after all. Now that I look back I see it more, but at the time I have to admit I was being very silly. :) CelleyBear 16:38, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
