Little introduction[edit]

It is now 8 years that the poor princess Miya isn't saved from the evil hands of lord vanquish. Over years, many SAB related threads popped over time asking when it will be finished, is there is any plan, if the princess will be saved, if the villain will got what it deserves and if we will the opportunity to see the others zones. This isn't a debate thread about SAB is cool or SAB is bad. I had time to create SAB world 3 and 4 and rework it, thinking what can be cool to see or not. ^^ All the following pictures will show all remaining zones maps, how I see them, everything is indicated apart the location of foes and tribulation cloud balloon pumps. I had a very fun and cool times designed those


New foes[edit]

I introduce a lot of foes, just here before you see the maps and infos about the bosses and items upgrades; I will list the different foes and where you see them:

  • World 3 Zone 1: Beetles, Wurm, Bats and King Bat (steal baubles) and Oozes (already here).
  • World 3 Zone 2 : Eels, Electric eels, Jellyfishes, Pirahnas (Underwater version, attack you).
  • World 3 Zone 3: Fireball, Fire Oozes, Fire bats, Dwarves and miner choyas (As shortcut). Kaiser Snake Boss.
  • World 3 Bonus: Stone Golem, peaceful, sleeping, but have to be destroyed.
  • World 4 Zone 1: Ghost, Goblin, Skeleton, Rats and King Rat (steal baubles) Wizard Skeleton. (+Owl, crocodiles)
  • World 4 Zone 2: Guardian, Archer and possessed sword. (Fire bats and Oozes, already known)
  • World 4 Zone 3: Royal guard, Crimson Assassin Boss, Lord Vanquish Boss (+Assassins/guardian/archer/skeletons)
  • World 4 Bonus: Mimic chest, gives baubles when receiving hit, scared and fleeing.

New mechanics[edit]

About the newly introduced mechanics:

W3-1: Boulders. Between the pre last and last checkpoint, boulders can fall from time to time and roll from right to left (following the moving direction of the underground river). They can hurt players but can be destroyed by using glove 3. At the end of the zone, around the cage, the water is deep, allowing player experiences swimming underwater.

W3-2: Switch controlled gates. By using a crystal switch, those can be opened to progress the level. The second new mechanic is whirlpools or maelstroms if you prefer that term. They move toward player on sight, but they are nullified and disappear by a simple use of glove 1 "push" when near you. On the map, the areas with small light blue line everywhere means the player can access the surface, if simple blue like in the north, it is totally underwater. Light blue and grey means the water is less deep/ you can walk on ground. There is a crappy submarine made by mining choyas that allow you to skip most of the level as shortcut. Warn: Kill you in tribulation. This is world 3 shortcut.

W3-3: This zones include several new mechanics, firstly rotating platforms (think of super mario 64), they rotate horizontally. Secondly, platforms that can appear after using a switch in addition of the other function to open fences. Thirdly, moving assets, here dwaves driven minecarts, the direction of moving is indicated by arrows near rails. Lastly, timed platforms that dive and go out of lava following a timer. The last thing is destroyable stalagmite, they can be bombed, sometimes can have baubles, sometimes foes like a fire ooze.

W4-1: Here, 3 main new things, number one, sinking platform on touch, on the contrary of lilypads in w2z2, those will slowly move down, if you don't stay a lot, they will go up, if not, they go so down that they disappear and never reappear, so you have to be quick to keep the platforms intacts in case you need to go two times on them. The big other thing is the highly poisonous water, you lose hearts 3x faster than the poisonous water of w1-3. And lastly fences you can pass under, just like the strange stone pane in w2z2 that hides a bottle above block puzzle pagoda. Note: Catacombs have torches that can be lighted up, but 100% darkness, you see almost nothing. Ghosts are particular, like boos in mario, they are shy if you look at them, and the good thing is that you can kill them with torch.

W4-2: This zone introduce zelda like puzzles mechanics: Switch plates, group of Lozanges color switches, fire traps. If activated in good order switch plate open a door leading to an easter egg with achievement. For color switches, you have to find all of them and hit them to open door of corresponding colors. For the fire traps, they are timed, on or off. One thing, but it is known since w1-1, is a head targetting you and shooting a laser at you. Before the last corridor there is a vanquish statue that shoot continuously at you once you entered the room. Hide behind pillars. There is a hidden passage, discovered by bombing ground in the south west garden. This is the shortcut of world 4. You keep sliding, it is an infinite slope going deeper and deeper to make you arrive in the secret torture room. Warn: In tribulation, there is a floor of spike traps at the end of the slide, kills you.

W4-3: Introduces the cannons! Go in it, and BOOM, sent to another part of the level! The evil lord vanquish destroyed the main parapets, you have to find a detour! This level include a new difficult mechanic, timed in and out of wall platforms, think of crash bandicoot 1, stormy ascent. Those follows a timer, sometimes they are out, sometimes they are in the wall. The second mechanic is platform waiting a boss to be beaten to appear, after killing crimson assassin, the plank wall fall and create a kind of levis bridge allowing to continue the journey. Alreadt known self destroying clouds are here, now there are weakened floors/walls with cracks, they will self destruct if you are on, those are the hard grey irregular shapes on maps, some of them are destroyed by vanquish shooting cannons balls at them. To end with them, there are destroyable boulders destroyable with glove 3, reminding W3-1. But here they are statics, just blocking the way.

Tributes that I gave to several old and recent games:[edit]

-W3-1 Beetles are a tributes to Mario series underground beetles. The bats also have an appearance very similar the ones in mario too.

-W3-2 bonus choya express is a tribute to very known runner game, you control nothing but can still choose to switch lanes to collect things. Underwater whirlwinds are a wink to crash banddicoot 2 underwater levels. All the shops merchants will end with a "Thaaaaaaannnkkk youuuuuu" this is a tribute to legend of zelda phantom hourglass itinerant boat vendor.

-W3-3 Fireballs are a reference to new super mario bros fireballs. Rotating platforms and sinking ones are inspired from super mario 64.

-W3 Bonus round is just related to golems in fantasy setting, those are common creatures.

-W4-1 is just a tributes to a lot of games featuring graveyards or catacombs like castlevania. The ghosts are inspired from mario and act in a similar way.

-W4-2 is inspired of zelda dungeons with its different mechanics and the treasure room. The bottom left is the exact same interior garden as in resident evil village, domitriscu castle. The library has the exact same arrangement as library in minecraft stronghold. The statue shooting laser in the lava pool room is an indirrect referrence to bowser statue shooting fireballs in mario kart tracks bower castle. The possessed swords foes are inspired from flying swords from secret of Mana. The torture room/lab in the castle is just a wink to crash bandicoot or castlevania. The appearance of guards, archers and royal guard is very similar to phantoms in zelda phantom hourglass, it is made on purpose. There is a long corridor with yellow column and beautiful church stained glasses, it is a reference to final corridor of undertale. The throne room has a yellow flower patch in the middle, again, undertale.

The switches unlock a room with a very shiny jar you can breadk, if you do so, a royal guard with come with a cinematic telling you how expensive it is. You have a debt of 9999 baubles toward lord vanquish. (Not actual one, this is just an easter egg, tribute to mimic mansion in super paper mario where you need to pay expensive debt for breaking something).

-W4-3 has timed in and out of wall platforms, just similar as stormy ascent level in crash bandicoot 1. The travel around with cannon idea is from secret of mana.

Also, ambushs can occurs, dark purples ghostly gates prevent from living the current zones and foes appear through a strange dark rift above. This is a reference to Zelda twilight princess.

-W4 rats and W3 bats are just a reference to luigi mansion series. Rats and Bats are sometimes Goldy and gives you money when killing them. They also like to steal keys.

-W4 Bonus is a mimic, this is a very known foe. But got the idea from secret of mana, where half of chests found are trapped or mimics.

-W4 Lord Vanquish and End. Like in super mario world, the castle self destruct but the villain survive.

All those aren't lost. I give all the permissions and authorization for Anet to use everything there or part of it. But in any case, I may recreate some of those maps in minecraft to have fun moving around in them.
