Talk:Ghastly Longbow[edit]

So how is that edit "sort of" vandalism? Seems pretty harmless to me. Mediggo 06:40, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

It contributes absolutely nothing and is pretty random. I file that as vandalism, sort of, especially since they created a new page to only say "why not" :P --zeeZ 06:42, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
It's non-offensive, seemingly non-spam and non-commercial... I don't think we should waste admins' time with something like this. Furthermore, pure vandalism edits should be tagged for speedy deletion. Next time such edits which don't contribute towards article or content itself should be moved to IP's talk page, as any discussion which doesn't relate to wiki documentation doesn't really belong to mainspace talkpages. It's definitely not a wrong approach to delete uncontributive talk, but even paying attention to something like this seems a waste of time on everyone's behalf. Indeed, I was just wondering why you put delete tag on it. Mediggo 06:55, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
If you moved it you'd still have to delete the remaining empty page, and I don't really see why we should preserve something like that on an IP talk page. With the dynamic nature of those addresses you'll just end up with billions of unnecessary random statements. But if nonsense cluttered all over the place is what you want, sure.. --zeeZ 07:53, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
What I'm saying is that this kind of edit doesn't deserve any kind of attention, neither moving nor manual deletion performed by administrator... A random word or two on a talk page isn't breaking the system. Larger, non-contributive edits like build strategies and so on provoke further, non-contribute discussion... That kind of edits should be moved, but this particular one should have simply been left alone. It's seemingly non-malicious, hence not vandalism. Sorry for dragging this on and explaining basics (not sure whether or not you're familiar with all the practices; I sure ain't) to great lengths, but I feel like you missed my point.
Oh, and dynamic IPs are somewhat questionable, I used to edit GWW over two years ago as IP and that particular one still doesn't have edits made by anyone else, and it's still the same for me on this computer and network. :P Mediggo 08:25, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Doesn't deserve any kind of attention, eh? :P --zeeZUser ZeeZ Sig.png (talk) 06:58, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for moving the build anyway...could you tell me why can't you have it in main space. is there something i need to do to get it there etc? also is people able to find it via search now when they search for necromanser build ?--Mirimia Micuki 22:54, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

Generally speaking, the main space only includes official information or exhaustive and comprehensive player-written guides.
And no, they won't be able to find it when they search for necromancer build. Aqua (T|C) 00:02, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
It depends on the settings one has in Special:Preferences. By default, your page won't appear in search results, however players can change this in the Search options tab. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.png A F K When Needed 03:28, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
Okey so it's like useless to other people... well when Gw2 comes out is there anyway to get the build on main space that people can see it? or is Gw2 wiki going to be buildless wiki?
2nd Question how about if i write official information like about skills on main space is that allowed ? or am i as new user not allowed to do that? and older writers have right to go ahead and write them first, to me it sounds like waste of my time if it's so but i also understand the fact new writer is new writer and somehow can't mach the olderones?(how ever people can always edit.

Edit is there way to link my builds from User: Mirimia Micuki to my builds. Like if i write the name of the build is there way to set link to that build but still keep it on my space?

cheers --Mirimia Micuki 11:45, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
The official Guild Wars 2 wiki will never document builds in main space, nor feature a designated location for builds to be placed. It can be kept in user space for your convenience. Actual documentation of builds will be the job of an external, unofficial wiki. - Infinite - talk 13:22, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
Okey i got it now... so someone needs to go and make Gw2 build wiki... Then why wouldn't Gw2 wiki make some kind of page/place where people can provide builds etc and search for them, Getting something like this up is not easy. I know that you guys may have talked about this stuff before but it's just good idea.--Mirimia Micuki 14:45, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
Whilst it has been debated in the past, we've long hit consensus on keeping builds and other indirect game help at a bare minimum. The wiki serves as an encyclopedia to the game, not a strategy guide. Strategy guides are (in this scenario) organized by users (within their userspace) or on fansites and such. Whilst I agree that it wouldn't be too hard to set up, the biggest factor is organising such a space. Many users agreed that the less organisation this wiki requires, the more beneficial it will be on the long run. For that reason we currently have no plans to document the following in main space; builds, guilds, strategy guides, advertisements for in-game services, and likely other, similar player-provided content (which I can not think of from the top of my head).
We currently focus exclusively on the game, what one can find in it, and what occured in and prior to it. For additional documentation, you're best off by starting a discussion over here. - Infinite - talk 15:17, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
Nah i don't care to start bigger discussion because it would have been brought down pretty fast...About the setting up, well for me codeing site like this would take for ever since i am only hobbyist on HTLM etc...if there would be ready base for build wiki i would go staright ahead to work on it but sadly there isn't. So that's why i came here thought it would be easy to get all from one single place(but i was wrong i quess). The fact that i am annoyed a little that people can't find those via search if they don't have settings set like so. it's like writing to my self seems so useless... when there is no people enjoying it...:D --Mirimia Micuki 16:04, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

Minor Edit?[edit]

Ahai! Sorry for the minor inconvenience with the picture. Much of a wiki newbie I am an was ecstatic that I could upload an image at last... even if I did it in the wrong place. Traits[edit]

I know that {{trait table}} is currently not displaying Adept/Master/Grandmaster for minor traits properly - that's because I've updated the infobox to split type and tier into distinct parameters. The table template needs to be updated (it needs to show tier for both minor and major traits now), but it's such a jumble of DPL that I don't know where to start. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:44, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

1 Video per puzzle[edit]

The original video should be removed and replaced with the 4 I added, have you actually seen the original video? The 4 I added are a detailed look at the puzzle and what users should look out for, some puzzles require more than just a quick hashed together video with only text based comments added to it. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 192.168.104.82 (talk).

No, I did not. I'd like to follow the idea of keeping them on a come, first served basis unless someone starts a discussion on which single video to keep and a consensus is reached on the most quality one. Everyone wants their video on the pages, and if nobody stopped them there would be constant edit wars of which video to keep, or a huge list of random videos because everyone wants to get the free advertising.
If you really feel that we need all those videos, how about you start a discussion about it? --zeeZUser ZeeZ Sig.png (talk) 10:31, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

User talk[edit]

Heya. Are you talking about my own talk page? (Feel free to delete this in true 'me' fashion btw) Because if thats what you were talking about I get what you mean, otherwise I'm stumped. Also, even though something is considered "off topic" by whatever (or wherever) the wiki guidelines state, don't you think if a page has little or even no entries that discussion of any sort is worth the contribution? For example, on the Caladbolg page, its my opinion, and no doubt that of thousands of others, that using that cliched name is a stupid mistake on ANet's behalf. It would be my wish that if enough people talked about a matter relating to the game, that somehow some message would make its way through. The wiki is after all a tool they monitor and take into consideration. Spose you may disagree severely, but heck thats what I think. :p

I also want to add that putting things on peoples talk pages is as good as deleting them, I mean seriously, who will see it there? At least people would see entries added to an actual page someone might search for. IE: Shark. Puk 10:59, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

No, actually, Anet doesn't pay any attention to the wiki for suggestions and such; that's what the forums are for. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 11:29, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
That's not what I've read. Also, who are you? This isn't your talk page. Puk 12:00, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
User talk pages are open to the public, and correcting misperceptions is a job anyone can do. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 12:56, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
"I also want to add that putting things on peoples talk pages is as good as deleting them" not really, many people view RC and look into various conversations. But as Vili stated, anet does not generally view or monitor the wiki at all. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 14:05, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
ArenaNet does not read wiki talk pages, Vili is correct. The licensing on the wiki (GFDL) prevents them from using any suggestions made here, since it forbids any use of the content for commercial purposes, so in order to avoid legal issues they avoid the wiki. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:14, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
Sorry, what does RC mean? Puk 10:26, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
It stands for Recent Changes, which refers to the page Special:RecentChanges. - Infinite - talk 10:29, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
