Protoarea[edit]

  • User:Redshift/Sandbox/Box3: Current rough sketch of a Location subpage.
    • Location pages should be more detailed than their greater area page: NPCs should be here, whether they are allies/vendors or specific creatures encountered. This is also the place to use more relative descriptions to help players find something in the game world (like not that the location has 2 waypoints, but where they are located). Events should also be here, as they are in number perhaps too cumbersome and specific to have in the greater area page. We actually have very little full documentation on a smaller location (as opposed to a greater area) so this is still very much a work in progress.
      • The template has been updated for a little resiliency; there is if-coding in the case that a location not have hearts and this can be duplicated for other characteristics as necessary.
  • User:Redshift/Sandbox/Box4: The current Scout prototype.
    • A scout aggregate by area is useful to have linked but kept off of area pages. I believe aggregation by area to also be inherently useful; I'm not quite sold on the idea of having to click through to specific scouts to try to guess which ones are associated with which hearts. However, I find it similarly necessary to retain that information on specific scout pages; I don't believe one method of navigation to be greater than another.
  • User:Redshift/Sandbox/Box5: The current Hearts prototype.
    • Hearts have a large amount of information that need to be documented while being a vital part of an area's information. Thus, a conversion of the heart page seemed most beneficial. As more areas are revealed, I wouldn't be surprised if the heart page itself was turned into a hub by region; the key is just to have linkable aggregated information so that area pages can retain convenient access to this information.
  • User:Redshift/Sandbox/Box6: Anticipating Waypoint experimentation if necessary.
    • I am questioning whether a Scout/Heart style version of the waypoint page is necessary. The area pages are currently providing thorough lists of area waypoints, and location pages should be able to clarify where those are. Aside from that, currently waypoints have no additional information like scouts or hearts to really document, so such a page might just be redundant.
  • User:Redshift/Sandbox/Box7: Anticipating Resource experimentation if necessary.
    • We sadly still know very little about crafting resources and how area/location pages might conveniently document them.
  • User:Redshift/Sandbox/Box8: The current Area prototype in use.
    • The greater area page is meant to be a broad overview and hub-style page. To this effort, the infobox template is geared to have information that is useful at a glance, and exploration information is more succinct and related to the greater scale. More detailed information is more accessible when linked out (as the hearts and scouts have been) or more thoroughly addressed in specific location subpages. Latest update included more info in the infobox and linking out to a future 'trait training' page of which we have very little information to go on. Also considering space for 'major events' (a la the shatterer) that would be considered significant for the entire area.
  • User:Redshift/Sandbox/Box9: The current Citypage prototype in use.
    • Cities pose a special set of parameters; they are more services and socially oriented while being constructed in a similar fashion to an area. More information will be added to (or subtracted from) the layout and templates as more stable information is discovered.
  • Sandcastles: Template housing, if I ever dare...which I seem to do.

Reminders[edit]

  • Traits can be learned in areas with certain challenges.
  • Areas can have weather.
  • Areas go through day/night cycles.
  • Boss type events might need a space as well.
